He lets go of the human with a surprised gasp and drops him as the sensation of having a bucket of ice water poured on him spread outward from his chest. He looked down to see a hand sticking out of his torso.

"Huh?" He is confused until he realizes he's not bleeding or otherwise showing signs of being wounded. It must be a ghost or something.

He eyes the bleeding kid darkly but sighs and shrugs. He was satisfied for now and wouldn't kill the kid; he found the thought of a mass panic amusing, and hoped that such rumors of vampires would draw out his brothers... if they were also alive by some miracle. His heart ached at the thought of Marko, dead in the cave, and David and Paul, whom he did not know the fate of.

He shrugged his jacket back onto both shoulders where it had slid down his arms during the struggle and turned to eye the ghost with a scowl. He turned and went back the way he came without a word, intent upon going back to the 'great hall'.

[[*snicker* Wonder how Bob will view Dwayne if they remember this; Dwayne snacked on Bob's charge.]]

Looking frantically around for someone human to staunch Harry's bleeding, Bob shouted for help once more and crouched beside the wounded boy. "Harry? Harry, can you speak? Hold up your hands -- you have to put pressure on the wounds -- Harry--!"

His spectral heart hammered at the thought that the vampire's narcotic saliva could already have spread through the boy's blood. And if it had taken too much.... Heedless of how little his translucent hands could help, he placed one on the wound, trying to ascertain how badly Harry might have been affected.

[[Mixing TV and book canon a bit here; the Dresden book vampires held humans in thrall by addicting them to the experience of being fed from, and enough feeding would either kill a subject or convert it. Bob is unaware that HP vampires may or may not work differently.
..Hmm, interesting question! Last time, events were remembered but not the thoughts that accompanied them unless they were spoken. It will probably disturb Bob a great deal, though the official school reaction (probably something like "oh well, these things happen ^^") and the way Harry views the events will influence him as well.]]

Harry gurgled and choked some more as he felt his back hit the floor. He grunted weakly and couldn't stop a whimper. A vampire bit him. This was- Oh god, it hurt. He heard Bob, but the words didn't make sense. He struggled to move his hands up to his neck. He shivered as his hands passed through Bob's. He knew he wasn't strong enough to put much pressure on the wound. He had lost a bit too much blood.

[[*amused* Lost Boys vamps don't have anything like that that I know of, same with HP vamps. Should be fun and amusing.]]

"I'll get someone," promised Bob -- he would have promised anything at some point. "The room was full of people -- don't move--" as though Harry could have moved, with blood pouring out of his neck--

There were so many things Bob wanted to say. You are the best student I ever taught. I knew your mother. You'll be all right. Don't die. But he couldn't find the words, and if Harry was gone when he got back -- but he had to try--

Shouting for help as loudly as he could, the ghost hurtled through the air toward the Great Hall, hoping desperately that somebody would answer before it was too late.

Racing up the hall, Gai plowed straight through the translucent figure before he could stop. A few words sufficed to tell the story, and the two raced only seconds later into the little alcove where Bob had left the bleeding child.

He choked again as he watched Bob leave. He would never admit it, but with everything happening just then, he felt the inexplicable urge to cling to the ghost. And he felt the loss of his presence as he attempted to staunch the bleeding himself.

He felt faint. He lost consciousness just as he saw someone solid round the corner.

"There he is -- he--!" Dropping all pretense of corporeality, Bob vanished from Gai's side and reappeared at Harry's. The child's pallor clashed sharply with the gout of blood that had soaked his shirt and hair, and though the wound was still bleeding steadily, Bob feared the worst until he slipped his fingers into the lax neck and felt the arteries still beating strongly.

"He's alive," the ghost gasped. "Hurry -- he can't have much more blood in him--"

Somewhere in the back of his mind, Gai was amazed that he was there at all -- stuck in a drafty old castle, helping a ghost save a young boy's life. His thoughts, however, were strictly in the present.

There was no time to properly clean the wound. He had conjured some water on the way -- reading his journal earlier had been very helpful -- so the hand he clapped to Harry's neck was clean, but his face grew graver as he felt the extent of the lacerations even as he tried to hold them closed.

Keeping his near-stranglehold on Harry's neck, he maneuvered the boy into his arms. So small... younger even than Lee.... "We need a medical kit," he barked. "Something to hold the cuts closed, and a needle, and--"
