I am thoroughly satisfied with the Oscars this year, though I wish "Encounters at the End of the World" had won for Best Documentary Feature. I know I was supposed to be rooting for Mickey Rourke for Best Actor, but I was in fact rooting for Sean Penn. I was made happy when he called the Academy "commie homo-lovers," and glad that he gave Rourke the shout-out. Also, the screenwriter for "Milk" (I've forgotten his name already!) gave a really lovely speech that got me all sniffly. "Slumdog Millionaire" got every award it was nominated for, with the lone exception of Best Sound Editing. I think that was pretty much a foregone conclusion, and it was wonderful to see how happy Danny Boyle looked as his people won the awards. Also, I was delighted when he did the Tigger bounce.
