The deadline for the term paper I've been working slowly but frantically on has been pushed from Friday to Monday. That's nice. Said term paper is on environmental issues in Soviet and post-Soviet Russia. I still don't know what my main title will be, but I really want to have the subtitle "Real horrorshow, eh?"
It's the last week of classes. Weird. Playwriting is going to have one or two extra meetings next week, though, because otherwise we won't have presented/read everyone's drafts. Presenting my draft will involve printing out scripts of my draft, picking classmates to play characters, and having them read the play to the class. Not a staged reading; the readers just sit opposite everyone else and read the lines. All of the plays we've gone through so far have been good, and some have been really excellent. I have cool classmates.
One of the best scripts was by this guy Patrick. We read it after the weekend in which I saw him play Renfield in the theater department production of "Dracula" (which was really good - I'd expected schlock and got actual art). I got a bit choked up at the end of his script. When we were all leaving class, I caught up with him and said "Patrick, as I told one of my professors, I don't have friends here, only people I admire. So let me say: I really admire you." I praised his writing and his acting, and I managed to keep it to a few sentences. This is important; brevity is the soul of not being completely and utterly sketchy.
Back to work. Love to all.
