Uh, who're you?

A resident of this place, which is called Discedo. I'm Eriol Hiiragizawa, and you speak the Queen's English, correct? So we are countrymen.

[proudapprentice]

Discedo? Whe--oh! Right: I guess we do, huh? I'm Luke. So where's this place then? Never heard of it.

[reed4context]

Nice to meet you, Luke.

This place... well, no one seems to know exactly where it is, but it's not Earth. I hope you have someone coming to find you? It can be dangerous to be outdoors for any long period of time. You just missed the acid rain.

[proudapprentice]

Professor Layton is coming to get me, he said.

So what's this about acid rain? What's going on here?

I'm glad to hear that.

Well, basically, we've all been pulled here against our wills for unknown reasons, and are being forced to survive in a rather unpleasant environment. There was a volcano a few weeks ago, which was followed by a rain of ash, then acid rain, and it seems next week we'll be having snow.

[proudapprentice]

W-what?! That's incredible! Well, it's not good, but... how can anybody even survive here?

Very carefully, and by sticking together, primarily.

...It helps that those who die, come back.

[proudapprentice]

Huh? How?

[reed4context]

I've no idea, but I've seen the evidence.

[proudapprentice]

This place is strange.

Is there anything else I should know?

[reed4context]

"Strange" does not begin to cover it.

Some people here present with odd abilities and powers... even magic. Since they come from many different worlds, those things seem to be standard there. And there are a lot of monsters on the streets. If you see a black butterfly-- don't touch it.

[proudapprentice]

Yea, the professor warned me of those butterflies.

Ah... monsters? You don't mean like the ones in those kids fairy tales, right? I hope the professor gets here soon...

I do. And worse things. If you see a creature, it might be best to run.

That must be what the professor meant, then. I hope he's okay...
