So a few months ago I started teaching a weekly music class for my capoeira group. Capoeira music is all percussion, with tambourine, congo and an instrument called the berimbau. For reasons I won't go into, I was chosen as the best person to lead and teach this class. Being a french horn player, rhythm is not necessarily my forte, but I have over a decade of learning and playing experience with winds, piano and guitar.
I've been getting good responses but I'm still unsure about my ability to teach. So I'd like to throw a question out to you folks: If you were put in charge of teaching music (performance, mostly devoid of theory) to adults with little music experience, how would you go about it?
