Just saw Children of Men. I am struck. It is entirely needed.

It saddens me that we tend to justify our art and quantify its relevancy and greatness with awards. There aren't really any awards that could do the story justice.

Yes, exactly. I've tried to talk about this film with people a few times, and almost anyone who hasn't seen it tends to act as though I'm exaggerating. Or being overly, I don't know, me.

I will say that while your point is both excellent and eloquent, I find it genuinely depressing that the cinematographer has yet to win an Academy Award in his lifetime.
