The Sting of Truth

Mar 01, 2008 00:52

Nevermind what you've been told.
Drop all pretense,
all presumption,
and never for an instant
believe what you see.

For this,
this is the Age of Lies.
Full frontal fallacies
dripping from his tongue
like so many drops of rain.

And now that he's started,
how can he stop?
Why should he stop?
Truth's Sting is a burden
too great to bear.

And so he carries on,
lost in a sea of deceit,
forever spinning the web
lest a single loose strand
become his undoing.

But the Realist,
he knows that nothing
lasts forever.
Soon it will end.
One way, or another.

So take a bow,
oh great father of falsehood!
Take a bow, and relish
the moment.
Yours is an hourglass almost spent.

And when it ends,
once the Age of Lies
comes to a close,
All that will remain
is the Sting of Truth.
