I haven't posted in a while. Not being able to get on here at ALL while I'm at work kinda sucks.
But what's the deal with Halo? Seriously. I've heard a lot about it this week, as apparently the third game just came out or is about to. Why is that series so popular? I've played bits of it, and it's easily the most generic shooter I've ever played. There's nothing unique or interesting about it at all; all the enemies look the same, all the boards look the same. Every time I play a multiplayer game I get lost because every location looks identical to me and I can never tell where the hell I am. So what's the deal here?
Maybe I'm just spoiled from years of playing really good PC shooters, and the far more numerous console gamers haven't really had anything worthwhile to speak of in that category, so the first vaguely competent shooter that comes along catches like wildfire. People raved about Goldeneye for the N64 as well, but from what I saw of it, I wasn't impressed at all. It paled in comparison to the PC shooters I'd been playing, and Halo appears much the same. But then, if console shooters were all I knew, I guess I'd be more impressed.
Am I alone in being underwhelmed by this seemingly uninspired game?
HELP ME UNDERSTAND, PEOPLE.
Why all the Halo love?
