I have the greatest bunch of friends a guy could ask for. I turned 30 (eek!) this last Saturday, and my friends threw me an awesome surprise party that I totally didn't see coming for one minute. A lot of people had really good reasons for being "out of town" or unavailable on my birthday, but just enough people were going to be around to help me ( Read more... )

Happy birthday darlin! When I told you I had plans I was actually lying because I had planned on going to the surprise party but something came up at the last minute with Rob and I needing to go to NoVA for J.P., so I wasn't able to make it. That said, if you would like to grab dinner some night in the near future, it is totally my treat. You are right, you have a wonderful group of friends. Lucky boy. :)

Thanks Lisa! It's too bad you couldn't make it, but when there are kids involved, things have a way of just sort of coming up unexpected! I will totally take you up on that dinner offer. Are you free this Wednesday or Thursday?

Sounds like a blast! Happy Birthday!

Now, the million dollar question is...are you freaking out about being 30 (like my brother did, but he freaks out every five years anyway), or are you just "Meh, another year older"

I thought I'd be freaking out, and I kind of was at first, but hell, some of my friends are in their 40s and 50s and are still into comics, D&D, and video games and I consider them very interesting people, so it really IS all about how you are on the inside that counts.
