The things that children get...

I woke up Saturday morning and Mia and I were having cuddle time (neither of us really enjoy mornings all that much) and all was well... until she turned her head. There was this HUGE knot on the side of her head, above her temple. It scared the crap out of me. I was going over the past 24 hours in my head trying to think if she fell at all, but nothing was coming to mind--no running into walls or tumbling off the couch... no fits of any kind that culminated in her throwing herself to the ground... nothing. I took a closer look and noticed all of these little bumps inside reddened, swollen area and the alarm bells went off. This was no bump on the head. This was something yucky.

We spent the afternoon at her doc's after hours clinic, but the doc (Dr. "hrmmm, I don't know what it is!) only sent us over to the lab for some testing. Without her being on meds, or even a diagnosis for that matter, I couldn't bring her to day care (since that was where she probably got it in the first place and I will not be one of those moms who drop their sick kids off and hope that it doesn't spread like wildfire) so I was home with her till it got straightened out. Thankfully, her doc's office got back to me rather quickly with a diagnosis:

Ringworm.

Now I know this is pretty common amongst day care attending kidlets, but it still skeeved me out. I mean, this is my baby and she has this nasty stuff on her that looks like it hurts, but seemingly doesn't bother her. Anywho, she's been on medication since Monday afternoon and returned to day care yesterday.

This semester has just been ridiculous. If it isn't illness, it's snow (or the threat of snow), or students in crisis.

I'm ready for spring break.
