try a keyboard. One way to really tell if its your keyboard or your computer doing that is...

Start>Run

Type: osk.exe

Should bring up a on-screen keyboard. It mimics the imput of your keyboard.

press some buttons in the OSK

If it comes out normal its probably your keyboard. If not then backup and reinstall windows. (There aint much to do if you cant type correctly.)
