Someone tell me this is a really really bad joke and then we can all forget about it, okay? I don't know, littlerhymes and I were talking about the lack of any *NSYNC/Panic! crossovers last night, but not like this, please. (I can't work out what would be funnier though, Justin/Ryan Ross or JC/Ryan Ross. The possibilities!)
Here, please have Patrick Stump singing the blues to make things better. Someone in icecreamhdaches very nicely took all the bits of Patrick singing out of this HCT video and smushed them into one (great) handy mp3. I will not lie, I came to be a FOB fan because of Patrick's voice alone (fandom and Pete Wentz's insistence that we love Patrick Stump as much as he does came later), and things like this just fuse my brain with happiness. As do massive pic+mediaspams of said P.Stump as awesomely provided by gigantic over here.
I'm enjoying catching up on the bandom excitement that happened over the weekend while I was away (no internets! out in the bush! *horrors*), particularly the Summerfest recounts (not so enjoying the associated new song angst, which, as I've already done my wibbling at Ro, I will spare the rest of you my immediate reaction. But I really do enjoy the first album *a lot* and I am so invested now that I live in daily horror that the next album will suck. *wibbles some more*) Anyway, jzbell wrote a fun, long and media-rich recap which you should go read for vicarious enjoyment but I just want to reproduce a photo she took over here in my own LJ so I can stare it whenever I like for as long as I like, okay? Because, I may have mentioned oh, a few hundred times, that I find Brendon

I think this post is just turning into "things SQ likes", so. Let's follow it up with some fic recs! There are three tried-and-true fanfic scenarios that are must-reads for me: noir AUs, crackfics in which someone turns into a fluffy animal, and hooker AUs. There were some awesome examples of this in popslash, but there's only been a handful in bandslash:
Wednesday Night Boys by Arsenic (Bob/Spencer, Brendon/Ryan/Jon)
Surely there is *no one* left in this fandom who hasn't read this, but just in case. Hooker AU, so satsifying in its length and the fact it manages to be hot and affecting at the same time. With a bonus happy ending!
Final Demand by HarmyJo (Pete/Mikey)
Awesome. I like the disordered thoughts that Pete has, the narrowed focus when he's determined to have Mikey, the bleak ending with its kind of hopeless hope (which is more usual in hooker AUs).
Ride (so get your gun and meet me by the door) by Ro (Gerard/Frank)
I cannot pimp this enough. More people need to read this and encourage her to write more bandslash, dammit. Gangland AU, dark and sparse and beautifully affecting.
The Medium-Sized Sleep by kosher pareve (Brendon/Ryan, Pete/Patrick)
Awesomely fun take on noir conventions within the detective genre with a futuristic bent, as Pete tries to track down a missing one-of-a-kind instrument for Ryan.
Godspeed Us to See by one900 (Gerard/Frank)
Another gangland AU, where Frank goes undercover and gets caught up in the fraught life of being in love with Gerard and getting in too deep with his secrets.
Kittens! At the Disco by Julie (Ryan/Spencer)
OMG, kittens!! This is adorable, and there should be more fluffy goodness like this.
Also. On the subject of fic recs, do people have any Long Island recs for me? I believe in the OTPness of Jesse Lacey/John Nolan, but I'd be happy just to dip my toe into whatever is available out there. I kind of refuse to believe that this subset of the fandom has such a tiny pool of fic. =(
