Dear people, help me?
a. I'm quite sure a while back someone on my flist posted on Alan Hollinghurst's The Line of Beauty. I hadn't gotten around to reading the book at that point, so I tucked the thought away and thought to go back. For some reason I had either dahlia_777 or kay_taylor as the poster, but I can't seem to find the entry now that I've just finished the novel. Help? I really wanted to see what some of you thought, particularly people who might have a better idea than I about the politics surrounding the time.
b. At work today, one of the ladies brought up a scene from a movie, which all of us thought familiar but none of us could identify. The "hero" of the movie - mostly likely a comedy - has to recall a very important piece of maths? or science? in order to save the day, and it was something he would've learnt at school, but in a flashback scene we see that all he can remember is his very stacked teacher leaning in front of him and saying something he can't recall because he's too distracted. What movie is this? Why have we all seen it?! Enquiring minds wish to know...
