I was trying to get a cup of coffee.

It must have been a really worthy cup of coffee.

Not worthy of this. I've been stuck out here for at least an hour.

[ Cameron's just walking by with a coffee in her hands, minding her own business, trying not to let the curse take over. She stops at the spectacle. ]

You have got to be kidding me.

[Believe it or not, he can't help it. And the glance he shoots her indicates as much.]

Hi, Cameron.

Hi, Finnick. How's things there? [Said with a bit of a grin. Quieter, she adds] Do you need rescuing or should I just stroll along and stop taking up your date-time?

[She doesn't mention that she feels rather compelled to go stand at the end of the line and wait for her turn. For now, the curse is appeased by the option of rescuing Finnick. Because that would clearly count as a date.]

Oh, you know. Come in for a coffee, stay a couple hours for the companionship.

[He pauses, quirking an eyebrow, and then smoothly continues: ]

Why, did you need me for that thing you mentioned yesterday? I can spare a minute if you do.

[Because he can take a hint, and he's fairly certain Cameron will recognize an opening for a rescue when she hears one, too.]

Right here on the table? I think the owners might have a problem with that.

[Guess who's UNFAZED.]

[He's certainly not about to say no to the offer of fries. Especially not when they're fresh and crispy, and the tributes the girls have been bringing him are more along the lines of chocolate and pastry. A man needs his salt and fried goodness, too.]

I don't know, it's a little sticky. We might want to get them to wipe it down first.

[Fortunately for Euphie, it's not the first time he's seen someone with pink hair. It was quite in style back in the Capitol, actually. So as first impressions go, he's officially intrigued.]

Hi there. Yeah, I was a little worried the people who own this place would get mad about the commotion, but I guess it's good business, too.

I know I do, when I'm at work.

[He pops open one of his many boxes of chocolate and slides it across the table toward her.]

Want one? I think they're cherry.

[She's technically been avoiding a situation like this for close to two months now, but in Claire's defense it's not the guy sitting at the table that catches her attention. It's the crowd gathered around it that has her so intrigued. On a hunt right now, she doesn't really have time to stop, but being shorter than most people means she can easily worm her way close to the front, and there's already so much pushing and shoving going on that it doesn't take long to accidentally end up in the front.

When she does, she immediately wishes she'd stayed in the back.]

Ohhh, it's youuuuu.

[Claire intentionally draws it out, wincing as she takes jerky steps forward and finds herself sitting.]

Ohhh, it's meeeee.

[At least he has the decency to only look moderately smug.]

Hi, Claire.

[She passes on the golden opportunity to make a Mario joke. He wouldn't get it anyway. Instead, she folds her arms across the table. She's been doing that a lot today.]

Hi, Finnick. [Pause, and she tilts her head.] I didn't mean to sit down. And I'm going to ask you to do something, but I don't want you to think I in any way would do it on a normal day.

[He leans back in his chair, eyebrows rising with interest.]

An abnormal favor, huh? All right, let's hear it.
