one small cup of coffee kept me up most of the night. i fear i am getting old. where has my youth gone?
my year included:
- 67 books read, excluding picture books. the highlight of which was Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. easily the best book i read all year. relatedly, i went to a taping of NPR's Talking Volumes featuring Jonathan Safran Foer that was very cool.
- a new job with a slightly different turn to my career. i work as a Collection Development Consultant for a company that works with libraries all over the country. it's fun and affords me an excuse to read picture books.
- some amazing live performances, including Low, M83, Bright Eyes (twice), Architecture in Helsinki (twice), Sigur Ros, Mates of State/Ida, Broken Social Scene, Stars/Death Cab For Cutie. my two favorite cd's released in 2005 are The Great Destroyer (Low) and Set Yourself on Fire (Stars).
- my first two camping trips ever.
- two business trips (Pittsburgh and Dallas) and a non business trip (Seattle).
- a beautiful, new apartment where we celebrated our first anniversary with a small group of friends this past weekend.
along with various comings and goings that i am either forgetting or leaving off this list for whatever reason. it was a good year, i would say, with much to remember.
