1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
Ran a marathon.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Some of them, and yes.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
no new stamps.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
A fully fenced-in back yard.
7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Dec 3rd - day I was able to pick up my new dog after his surgery.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Convincing a few people it was a good idea to let me work from home and thus, avoiding a depressed labor market.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not contributing enough to address significant problems.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Lots of running-related injuries leading up to and following the marathon. I was more bull-headed than smart about the training and learned a good lesson. Eventually.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
a "traveller" record player.
12. Where did most of your money go?
Discretionary funds went to music on a whole new level this year.
13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
a) The Health Care debate and the subsequent passage of legislation that begins to address the problems we're having with the for-profit health care system. b) my friend returning from Afghanistan, intact, unharmed.
14. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Anything by the Black Keys.
15. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? slightly happier I would imagine.
b) thinner or fatter? 5lbs thinner
c) richer or poorer? maybe a nickel or two richer.
16. What do you wish you’d done more of?
deep and challenging conversations, travelling, volunteering, giving, talking to strangers, maybe a bit more reading.
17. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Small talk.
18. How did you spend Christmas?
Lunch w/ family tomorrow... probably work with Zeke some more at the park to help him socialize with other dogs.

Yes.

Turned 36 - had dinner with a girl I liked very much.

good genes and an aversion to drama, perhaps?

No heroes this year.

Finding out what I ultimately want from this life.

Not being more generous.

Still convinced that's a waste of time and perfectly good energy.

My sense that what we do matters. Lost that somewhere at sea in 2008 and really missed it for a long time there.

Hodge-podge schizophrenia

Health-Care Reform.
