and away we went...

Ran two miles today.

First run in 15 days. No problems during or after-so far, but I will be stretching periodically for the remainder of the evening and the real proof will be how I'm feeling later in the week. I should state for the record that I'm completely scared of any new injuries as well as the possibility of these recurring. The fear alone troubles me as I much prefer taking a much more stoic approach to things. The ol' "Give it your best shot and let the chips fall where they may" chestnut comes to mind. I suppose very few new things I attempt are done in the midst of such a vast audience, so obviously this goal is a little bit different. I feel good about how today went though.

Oh - but as an added bonus, on today's run (and I find this so amusing) I was struggling for air on the fourth block taking part in epic considerations over how this slight incline has impacted me historically, the possibilities of the smoker I ran past, the wood burning fireplace I could smell in the air, the chill in the air's impact on my lungs, etc., when I suddenly realized -- this is an asthma attack. On the ONE DAY I return to running, dedicated to finding out where I stand on my recovery, a day where ALL I WANT TO DO IS RUN TWO MEASLEY MILES and see 'what's up' I get hit with that.
