Tonight is
Bloomington Belly Dances! I'm super-excited about my steampunk-cyborg solo and my ATS duet with
d_c_m (we're dancing to "Ederlezi Trance" from the Tribal Nexus CD by Phil Thornton... but honestly it was tough to pick just one song as that CD is pretty awesome!).
I'm hoping for both pics and videos from the event. Ooh, that reminds me, I've still got pics from the circus to post, I'll just do those now (still fiddling with the video a friend sent me of my dance).
These are my favorite two, the first because I look super-mysterious and the second because it reflects the joy I feel when I dance:
here you can see a little more detail on the bra I constructed with feathers, chains, and a kuchi piece in the center:
Also, wow, tomorrow Pan and I fly to L.A.! We'll probably hit the
SoCal RenFaire on Sunday, since I haven't been in ages and he's never been to a RenFaire at all... and apart from my sister graduating next Friday, we have little in the way of concrete plans. We're probably going to try to climb once or twice at a gym in Agoura my dad found, and we'll hit some cultural and culinary highlights like dim sum, museums, and beaches. Otherwise, I find myself inhabiting the weird headspace of an L.A. native who doesn't know what to do in L.A. since I've not spent much of my adult life there doing, well, whatever it is grown-ups do for fun in L.A.
I'm really excited about this trip; I'm happy to be going home, and I really enjoy spending time with Pan, so it's nice to be able to combine the two. Here's a picture of us from my birthday party, all dressed up:
