Moved in yay!

Got into the dorms early and so I am definitely sitting in my brand-new suite style room. And last night I went to see Hairspray for the third time in theaters, so yeah, that's probably an indicator that I would recommend it. Amanda Bynes and Christopher Walken can sing, which was a wonderful surprise. I know a couple people were surprised at Michelle Pfeiffer's voice, but all I could say was haven't you seen Grease 2? It was a flop because it sucked, but Michelle Pfeiffer singing "Cool Rider" was amazing.

I'm just disappointed that three times I've walked out of that movie surrounded by people who didn't get the whole message of the movie. It's about accepting people for all their difference, and that it's not about the outside but what lies in your heart. The two good-looking women were horrible bitches, whereas it's the big girl who wins the guy and the black girl who wins the dancing contest. So people who get the civil rights aspect but DON'T get that Tracy and Edna are the real heroines of the story and Amber and Velma are not to be looked up to... well, they boggle my mind. Yeah, Michelle Pfeiffer is gorgeous (although a bit too thin in this movie for my taste), but her character is ugly to anyone who doesn't fit the mold of skinny/white/popularly beautiful. I don't want to grow up and be Velma von Tussle. I want to grow up and be Tracy Turnblad (even though her character is a few years younger than me).

Then again, I'm not going to assume that a bunch of preteens who all look and dress exactly the same will get the message about "being different is not only okay, it's great". Neither will a bunch of people MY AGE who all look the same.

Not much else to say except my shoulders are killing me dead because they hurt like a motherfucker. Oh, and I have a new celebrity crush on Elijah Kelley. :D

rants, movies
