So I think I've figured out my summer plans.

This is all my little sister's fault, so go blame her if you think I'm certifiably insane.

For her thirteenth birthday, my sis requests that I make her a virgin martini (she wants to call it a Thirtini) because I have a reputation for being the mocktail bartender. I've been making them since I was fifteen and realized that you didn't need to have a whole lot of crap to make virgin margaritas; generally it's for birthdays, although at Culture Fair at my high school for my senior year I made mai tais and mojitos (we were Brazil, but I hate talking about that damn booth because nobody except me showed up to work even though Brazil is about more than drinks. That entire episode was crap, although I had fun being the snarky bartending girl).

So anyway, I was looking futilely for a virgin martini recipe, because of course my sister would ask for the non-alcoholic version of the one drink made completely out of alcohol. I came across a book on Amazon that has 200 mocktail recipes, so I ordered it (for five bucks I think that was a pretty sweet deal, yo) then called her and filled her in on the situation. Now she wants to set up a cute pseudo-bar so I can work "bartending" shift at her party and people can order certain virgin drinks from me. I offered to have real alcohol there for the parents, but my mom said that that won't be necessary, probably thinking of costs. Honestly, I think it's a great idea just because I'm going to put Sex on the Beach as a drink on the menu and I want to see a bunch of twelve and thirteen year olds trying to order that from me with a straight face. However, that's not the story here.

I decided to look into bartending school. (That is the story.)

I've done my research and in Texas the minimum age to pour alcohol is 18, so it's definitely cool by the law, plus in July I'll be nineteen so no problems there. My mom thinks it's a great idea and my dad will probably be thrilled that I've found a way to get a job, so we'll figure out how to get the money up for me to take classes. It's a two-week intensive course, and the two schools I'm looking at have a final exam at the end of the second week. They both promise to help secure you a job after you "graduate", too, so hopefully I'll have it relatively easy.

Plus, being a bartender? Effing sweet. I've wanted to be a bartender since I was a sophomore in high school. Not permanently, you know, just as a way to get me through if I ever need it (and I need it now). It makes some pretty decent money if you know what you're doing, so hopefully I'll have a fulltime job this summer as a bartender. Yes, I'm excited. :)

That was my weekend. Oh, and I have some absolutely beautiful bruises on my thighs. I can't walk around in shorts now because it looks like somebody's been punching/hitting my thighs really hard. They're that bad. And it's hovering in the 75-80 degree weather right now outside. Pants are killing me.

Haven't heard anything from my family about coming home next week. Here's to hoping, huh? I have that weekend off anyway, so hopefully I'm going home (it's either that or chill here for the weekend, and frankly I'd rather go home).

Can't wait for summer, just because it means bartending school!! :)

job hunt, good things, badness
