Sooo I finished my paper =) At a relatively decent time, too!
I'm way glad to be HOME! I miss my housemates terribly, though...they're like my sisters! They're so amazing. My housemates last year weren't TOO bad, but for those who read my LJ entries then, there were times when it was just bad. My girls this year are just so loving and supportive and they don't gossip or say unkind things--they're such good examples and I love it!! I couldn't ask for a better house to live in. My wonderful Rachel (my biffle!) is transferring to Idaho to do psych stuff, so helping her move out was terrible. At least our families live pretty close to each other! After 4 semesters with her, it's going to be really hard to live with someone else...I know who my new roomie is, though, and she's pretty cool, so we'll see.
In all honesty, I don't really know what to say, it's been so long since I actually updated...lol.
I'm never taking 23 credit hours again, EVER! They killed me by the end...I managed to scrape out a B in literary theory (first B in college!), killiing my 4.0 for my major but I can't believe I even managed to pass that class! Word to the wise: if the class has the word "theory" in it, DON'T TAKE IT! Next semester I'm taking two lit classes again, but it's American Renaissance and Topics in Fiction so I should be ok =) I'm pretty sure the rest of my grades turned out nicely, but they haven't all been posted yet so I'll have to wait a few more days...but as of yesterday, I have junior status, so yay!
I've officially dropped my music minor and I'm SO happy! The music classes were just really time-consuming and my heart defnitely just wasn't in it. I'm not taking clarinet lessons again, either...I'm not even sure if I'm going to keep playing in the orchestra. It's weird letting go of something that's been a big deal for you for like 9 years, but the more I keep forcing myself to do it the more I resent it, so I figure I should stop while I at least like the clarinet still. I'm going to keep playing every once in a while, but piano is my love and I'm definitely going to continue that. I'm changing my minor to Family and Child Development (FCD), a minor that is great to pursue at SVU because it's a church school! I'm so excited for all the stuff I'm going to learn for future mom status! =)
Speaking of families, one of my housemates is probably getting married next summer! That's totally random and no one who reads this will even know who I'm talking about, but we're all SO excited for her and we're just waiting for the guy to officially pop the question. Yay!
In more academic news, I'm officially the TA for my all-time FAVORITE professor!! I was ridiculously excited when I found out, I've wanted that ever since I first took a class with him. On top of that, I'm the student trip assistant for the travel study trip to England next summer--we're spending a month at Oxford! I was going to go on the "Footsteps of the Apostles" trip to Turkey and Greece, but it was just so expensive and I wouldn't be getting any English credits, so I opted for England instead. =) Two professors are going to teach classes two days a week, and the other 5 days are free travel...we're going to have BritRail passes so we can go anywhere we want and do anything we want as long as we're back on Monday for class. I think I'm going to spend a day or two in Ireland, but I'm not sure yet...all I know is that I CAN'T WAIT! Since I'm the trip assistant, I get to help the professors plan where we go for class and Dr. Cluff keeps asking me what the reading should be for his class, lol. The other professor going is a politics guy, and he's arranging for us to sit in on a Parliament session! So yeah, there's that. I'm not sure when I'm going to come home, though...spring break is the travel study trip to Boston (WOO), then I'm going to NYC after spring semester with Rachel and Huey to go to Carnegie Hall, then I'm coming back to SVU to do Maymester again, then I'm going to be a church camp counselor for 3 weeks at SVU, then I'm going to England for a month, then I'm coming back to SVU to be an orientation leader for the rest of the summer. Busy, but it's going to be a blast =)
For more recent travel plans...I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to go to SC this break =( I want to SO BAD, I miss it so much...but Tyler's gone and my parents really need me here. We'll see. If I do come, it'll be for New Year's like usual. Even if I don't come for winter, though, my housemates are dying to see Charleston and so we might be making a trip down sometime during the spring. (4 day weekend, maybe?) It was like 70 degrees last week and it felt so much like fall in GC that I had to just stop walking to class and take it in. I can't believe I haven't been there since AUGUST. It's pretty sad that I've lost touch with so many people, though...even the people I kept in touch with my first year. Everybody went to college and schedules conflicted and it never really worked out. Thomas is the only person I still talk to on a regular basis, and it's probably because he's still in high school! lol. Lainy, too--but she's always been amazing as keeping in touch--I don't know how she does it, but I love her for it! ;] So seriously, people, if I get to come down there this time, I want to hang out with you. I dunno who still keeps up with LJ, but I KNOW Ash and Mary do--you two! Do stuff with me! ;]
Anyway, I think that's about it as far as updates go. I'm getting my last two wisdom teeth out on Monday, and then I'm probably going to be spending a few days at Rachel's house in MD, so that's my first half of break. I'll keep working out the SC trip thingy. Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL break!
