yay band!
so 5A state was pretty much amazing. since when did everyone get so much better?? it blew my mind.
SHS walked on the field and i swear i was having heart palpitations. i felt like i was the one about to perform--i was so nervous for them! especially when "A Mis Abelos" started and i was pretty much hyperventilating all through Christian's solo, lol. of course he's fabulous and nailed it, but i was still freaking out.
i thought the show was really well done, seriously. Darrion and i kept a mock score going for each band, and we had Stratford around 9th--they got 10th, so we were close. better than last year! =)
Mauldin (the band that got 9th) did "Rise and Fall of Rome" (under a different name) and Kim/Amanda/Darrion/Jerome and i were singing along and whatnot. it was definately enjoyable to watch and remember fun freshmen year times! they even did the "run-around-screaming" part, which made me happy. no super-awesome company front, though. sad.
i know all the band seniors are going to have their reminiscing "i can't believe it's over" posts--i hope you guys are satisfied with what you did, though, because it really was a solid performance and a much better season than 2005 from what i heard. yay band!

i turned to Kim and Amanda and told them that i was retiring as a clarinetist, lol.
all in all, i'm proud of the SHS band. <3 you guys are and always will be my champions!!
i was definately a huge jerk to Christian around lunchtime, and the realization of what i had done hit me about two minutes into Summerville's performance. and i felt like the worst person in the world. we got everything worked out, but i was so mad at myself for screwing up time that i actually get to be with him. definately a learning experience, though.
i'm in GC till tomorrow afternoon, and then i'll be heading back up to SVU until Thanksgivin break--i'll be down here from the Friday before Thanksgiving till the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, then Christian's coming to spend the rest of break with me up in DC. of course i have to come by the band room and see everyone, so i'll see most of y'all in like 13 days or so =)
