(no subject)
so, the internet in my mod house isn't up yet since it's brand new (i'm in the library on my laptop)--but it should be finished by the end of the week, and then i'll post PICTURES of my super-cute dorm room and my super-fabulous roommate.
first off, the past two days have been amazing. i've met so many fantastic people, including some that i haven't seen in a really long time. there's almost no one here from VA--pretty much everybody is from overseas or out-of-state. one of the girls in my house is from Hilton Head and we totally have a southern bond now. lol. one my other mod-mates is from CA and she says i have the cutest southern accent ever, as much as i insist that i do not have a southern accent. lol. my RA, Ashley, is the BEST!! she takes us to Walmart and she cooks like a friggin prodigy--since we have a kitchen, we decided to have "Mod Mondays" and eat dinner together every monday night. how cool is that? all in all, everything is pretty frggin cool.
i had my orchestra audition yesterday--Professor Taylor insisted that i take private lessons with the orchestra director at Washington and Lee University, and that i carpool with the principal clarinetist to the community orchestra--almost all the brass are from the Virginia Military Institute! again with the coolness. i have orchestra in like 45 minutes.
jogging was this morning at 6:30--the coach is SO COOL. cooler part? i may do track in the spring--my jogging coach coaches track. my RA does shotput/discus, and my roommate does pole-vaulting, so me and the girl from CA (who is running a lot also) are considering doing track. i have to run a marathon at the end of the semester! lol. COOL. more about track--the women's track team here are the NATIONAL CHAMPIONS in their division for like 16 years. same with the basketball team. and the soccer team. SVU girls ROCK. can any of y'all honestly see me running track? lol.
i registered for a scuba diving class!!! =D i'm pretty sure we get certified, but i'm not sure. AND. i want to do travel study over the summer--3 week trip to the Belize rainforest/Mayan ruins/etc. they were talking about it and i got so excited, lol.
i love this small campus--there're campus movie nights every first friday and you walk across campus and people just randomly say hi to you. standing in line for lunch yesterday i met like 5 new people. lol. it's not like i never see them again, either--i pass them all the time everywhere.
i have more classes tomorrow--mondays and wednesdays are my busiest days, though.
so, in a nutshell, college is awesome. it's hard--i'm taking two reading-heavy english classes and a reading-heavy history class--but i'm definately up for it.
i miss Christian, though...a LOT. especially since he's getting sick and i'm not there =(
