Poll Take my money, my cigarettes/I haven't seen the worst of it yetAnd how many books is it appropriate to bring? I've spoken to some of you crazy people who are bringing THREE CRATES of books (wow) and I swore that I was bringing no more than ten because I'll have text books and an entire city full of used bookstores at my disposal, but now that I'm packing my stack of books that I can't imagine living without ( Read more... )

Check out Town Cleaners in Belmont. It's a bookstore, but it's in an old drycleaning location. It's right off of the L (red line).

Bryan and I went there on our 'date' and we fought over a version of Bros. Karamazov. I won.

I brought four pairs of shoes, but I never wore my boots. You can always borrow shoes from Amanda.

Bring a billion and a half books. You will not have time to read them (unless you allot it, or during finals weeks [surprisingly enough]). They are good to exchange.

Bring shitty copies of Platonic dialogues (and The Republic, but not The Laws) and the Iliad and a Marx reader, because chances are you will look at it in at least one hum or one soc class in your u of c career. It's also nice to have a copy of a text that doesn't look like everyone else's. It's a nice ha-ha-gotcha!

Bring water balloons and a water balloon launcher and a huge water gun. Bring tamogatchis!

Bring your car and drive me around! Bring your hot air balloon and drive me around! Bring room decorations! Bring a flag of your favorite country that isn't America! Bring a giant poster of Donald Rumsfield, even if you're a crazy liberal like me and Mickey, because it will freak everyone out!

Bring origami paper. And roller skates. And a karaoke machine, if you just happen to have one!

Don't bring notecards to make flashcards. You can buy them here. Bring things that you won't be able to buy. Bring lutefisk (sp?). Bring your friends! I did!

Man, I'm too excited yo.

I own ... maybe five thing on that list.

I cannot drive you around. I will be a first-year and cannot have a car. You should know this. But Amanda will have a car! Hit her up for rides; I'm planning to whore myself to her in any and every way she likes for rides.

But I don't think I can wear her shoes. Her feet are smaller than mine.

I DO have a neat flag that you will see when I drag you to see my dorm room. Ua ha ha.

I have already purchased notecards. They're good for making frogs that hop, too.

I canNOT exchange my books. No no no. I would sooner exchange my children or my internal organs.

What's a tamogatchi?

AOL is temporarilly unavailable. I was saying that some advisors are helpful and some aren't. And it depends on how demanding/forgiving you are. You're gonna have to advise yourself and get advice from other students to be honest. The advisor, my varying reports tell me, either help you to make your dreams come true or do everything in their power to make your life a living hell and sign you up for classes that don't exist.
