Alright, I've finally gotten around to doing this properly!
General Facts (Pre SL-9)
• Long before SL-9, Gant has had rumours surrounding him regarding his 'magnetism' for evidence. He was excellent at his job, however, and was called the "crime computer." He was already slated to become the next Chief of Police before SL-9.
• Ema remembers Lana before SL-9 as "always smiling." Angel recalls that she and the other officers looked up to her and that she was kind.
• Lana met Gant when she was promoted to senior detective, when she was 24 (five years before RftA). Gant was 60 then, and the vice-head of criminal affairs.
• Lana looked up to Gant-he was "everything [she] wanted to be."
• Known as the 'Legendary Duo,' they "worked the crime scenes" together and solved many cases, often before the papers had even reached their desks.
• They testified in many court cases (together?).
• They shared the same office.
• Gant knew about Lana's extremely close attachment to and protectiveness of her sister.
Speculation (Pre SL-9)
• Lana and Gant worked extremely closely, and I see them spending a lot of late nights/early mornings together.
• Even working as a closeknit duo, however, Gant's philosophy (as seen at the end of case 5, when he addresses Edgeworth) is to ultimately rely only on himself, and to control everything by himself. (as... seen as why he did all that SL-9 stuff in the first place XD)
• Lana admired Gant feverently-when she says "everything," I take it to mean that she admired not just how good he was with his job, but also his personality: charming, lighthearted but instantly being able to be serious and focus on work. She'd also admire his detestion of crime. She'd have an incredible degree of trust and faith in him-and would be a tad blind in regards to the his whole "magnetism of evidence."
• Lana admires individuals first for their strength/intelligence, and then only afterwards do these feelings turn to romantic affection. She would have been in the adoration stage with Gant, though I'm unsure if she would feel tinges of romantic feelings towards him. Unless he acted first or called her on them, however, she probably would not approach him with her feelings. The two of them worked together so closely that aside from romantic intimacy, there probably wouldn't have been too much of a difference.
(Do you think that Gant did call her on it/acted on it? I can see it as possible that he may want to already start toying with her in that way, or perhaps he did feel a fondness. I don't believe it could have been love, though-considering that he didn't have to think much before blackmailing/extorting her when SL-9 came up.)
Possible Scenes (Pre SL-9)
• First meeting/introduction
• Chase down criminal scenes! ...Or investigation scenes. XD (I got a silly idea of her getting into a scuffle and him coming and saving her... violently! >_>;;;;; )
• Being good cop/bad cop while questioning an individual. (Lana would definitely be the bad cop, huh? XD)
• Late night in the office planning-working-sorting-talking. Probably over takeout food or something like that, though picturing Gant with takeout food is confusing. XD Let's just say tea.
• Romantic scene? Up to what you guys think; I have no clue. :| I do know that someone talked a lot about a Police Ball or something. At any rate, whatever happened will end up severely messed up where we are now. :D
General Facts (SL-9 and Post SL-9)
• Gant pre-arranged the crime scene to make it look as though Ema killed Neil. When Lana walked into the room, she did three things. Firstly, she took a photo of Neil and the crime scene, rubbed the blood off of the fragile jar, and then (panicking), cradled her unconscious sister, thinking that she had done it. When Gant entered, she begged for his help in concealing the crime, to which he agreed.
• Lana knew at the time that she was "selling her soul" by manipulating the evidence and by recruiting Gant's help...
• SL-9 sped up the process of Gant's promotion.
• Lana ended up as a puppet of Gant's, responsible for manipulating evidence, cleaning up or hiding information, etc., and is eventually appointed to Chief Prosecutor to control the prosecution.
• Lana blocks out everyone close to her, including her sister, and doesn't disclose any of the secrets to Jake or Angel (or even Mia, who she keeps in contact with and hears about Phoenix by).
Speculation (SL-9 and Post SL-9)
• It isn't fully clear if Gant made his demands known right away-if he actually told Lana what the consequences of his favour to her would be, and if she knew that he would be using the situation to his advantage. Otherwise, she might initially believe he acted in kindness-and that she dragged him down with her.
• Lana eventually realizes she is being controlled, but I think this realization comes slowly for a couple of reasons... firstly, because SHE was the one who initially asked for help from him, and she believed Ema had honestly killed Neil. She also wasn't aware that Gant had been keeping additional evidence in his safe (so she wasn't being openly blackmailed by him in that way)... so, I reason that most of her actions were done with consent, albeit troubled consent. (It would be difficult to maintain control through direct confrontation and a resisting individual for two years, I figure... Gant would know how to twist things to make her want to agree without always throwing out his fullest threats.)
• As for physically intimate interaction, anything done after SL-9 (as with the rest of the relationship) would have a terrible power imbalance-Lana wouldn't want to do something to displease Gant (or displease him by not doing something he wanted), which would mean that she would comply with just about anything he fancied. He, on the one hand, wouldn't want to drive her to a point where she would stop caring for the risks of spilling confidential info. At the same time, however, I can see it as being amusing for him to see how close he could get her to the breaking point while still getting her to comply-we're running on blind compliance here, and she's so easy to get to do stuff~
(The question for all of these things are, though-how frequent? How many times (approximately)? How much information is passed on from him to her about what she needs to do/why she needs to do it? ["I need you to dispose of Bruce Goodman's body" leaves a lot of things out. XD])
Possible Scenes (SL-9 and Post SL-9)
• SL-9 itself-the discovery of the scene, how the bargain was struck...
• Preparation for the Darke trial-evidence manipulation, discussion of plans/orders.
• Nomination/promotion scene?
• Dirty work/orders? Varying degrees of orders, varying degrees of compliance and resistance... so many of these things could've happened. XD Just, basic interaction between the two after SL-9.
• Physically intimate scene? We might have to go through these in more vague senses or just discuss them out, if you feel they would occur. XD
