"PLEASE ENJOY THIS QUICK AD BEFORE CONTINUING YOUR LIVEJOURNAL EXPERIENCE..." so basically, this website makes money off our intellectual property, then makes us watch ridiculous shit each time we log on (cha-ching). and, if you don't want to see those stupid ads, you can always PAY to have them removed..
don't get me wrong, ALL weBLOG sites generate money from ads, even if you don't notice them. but other sites also don't paste them in front of the page, with sound so you get to watch a little movie of a frazzled housewife cleaning her house or making dinner for the kids or whatever inane tradition-enforcing mass-media garbage they want you to swallow. also, other sites REWARD their loyal members by creating adSense accounts and allowing them to receive some of that sweet sweet ad money (pennies a year, maybe, but way less annoying).
