Ron/Hermione Sites

Why are R/Hr sites pushing OBHWF when they did not before?

Well, the two major Ron/Hermione sites I know of pushed OBWHF before HBP, but the push has become much harder since Harry and Ginny hooked up in HBP. From what I remember, the people who run the two sites have always considered themselves to "ship canon". That leaves people like us out in the cold.

For example, I know several people who have submitted stories to Checkmated recently, that are R/Hr and Harry/Other, but since HbP they have been rejected for stupid reasons.

What kind of reasons are being given for stories being rejected? I know that at least a couple of years ago, there was only a generic rejection e-mail with a list of grammar sites for the author to go to, regardless of why the story was actually rejected. The reason given was that the Witches' Council/Prefects/whoever it is "don't have time" to specify why a story was rejected.

Also, whether a story is accepted or rejected, and when they are betaed and published is up to the individual Council member who chooses the story. There was once a discussion in which some of the people posted about how try went about accepting and publishing stories. Some people came right out and said that they would reject a story because they didn't like the ship, or the story was AU. Some also said that when it came to publishing, popular authors, Council members/Prefects, and their friends are given priority, which means an unknown story can sit in the queue forever if no one picks it up.

Ever since HBP came out, some of the Council members have said that they want stories to be "canon-compliant" up to HBP, so ship-wise that leaves Ron/Hermione (naturally), Harry/Ginny, Remus/Tonks, Bill/Fleur, and characters' parents. Despite the fact that Harry and Ginny broke up at the end of HBP, most OBHWFers are sure that they will get back together, therefore I'm guessing that it is expected to have them together in a fic. A Harry/Other author's best bet would be to cut the Harry ship out of the fic completely.
