She's running maybe, that's the only explanation for the rhythmic beat to her breath which is shallow and hurried and occasionally undercut by a muttered: ] --come on, come on, come on.

[ Her response comes only after a while. When she does, though, her end of the line is no longer chaotic and filled with noise. It's quiet. Perhaps not settled, but it's still an improvement. ]

You'd better be inside, Yamamoto.

[Quiet doesn't always portend calm, but in this case, Yamamoto will take it.]

It's nothing a few days off my feet won't fix. [ She's not the best at being reassuring, but what she lacks in that respect she makes up for in matter-of-factness. ] As for that-- [ A pause, incredulous. ] --it was a minotaur. Half man, half bull. From mythology.

Geez... But, well, after the harpies, I guess it makes sense for more nasty creatures to show up. Maybe the new barriers are weaker.

I've heard about those. The barriers and how they were down for a while. Is that when the harpies came through? [ A pause as she considers his assertion about the hospitals. ] Let me guess -- you've been through them once or twice yourself?

Yeah. It was pretty crazy around here for a while! Though I wouldn't be surprised if this wave is crazier. You should probably start carrying a weapon with you, Ariadne. Just in case. From the sounds of it, you got lucky today.

[he laughs sheepishly.] Haha, you could say that!

[ For the first time, Ariadne sounds a little out of her depth when she says: ] A weapon?

[ A beat. ] Hibari keeps talking about a 'stake'. --not sure how literal he's being.

[and that gets a guffaw.]

Very literal. A stake may not be a bad idea! Or a knife...or even a bat! Something you could swing and cause enough damage to get away.

[ Ariadne makes an uncertain face at her device. Some of it is audible in her voice. ]

I'm not really a fount of upper-body strength. If I'd tried to take a swing at the minotaur, I don't think I'd have made a dent.

I'm not sure me and bombs are the best equation either. --does he actually do that in his spare time?
