Joslire smiled to himself as he dutifully filled a toy for the prancing Shimmer. He stroked her as he gave it to her, but was largely ignored as she trotted off to her bed with it.
He smiled outwardly when he saw Laura in the candlelight, and was drawn irresistibly toward her. He reached his arms out to her with a sigh of wondering appreciation.
There was a depth of feeling welling up in his heart, and for a moment he was struck dumb by there simply being too much to express, but finally, one thing, the most vital thing, found it's way out.
Laura smiled and sank into Joslire's arms, wrapping her arms around his neck. "I love you. More than I could ever describe to you," she said before kissing him softly. Her fingers stroked against the nape of his neck tenderly, deepening the kiss that was so full of meaning.
Joslire melted as he always did when she touched him there. The touch that made him feel valued, and safe. His hands pulled her closer to him, as he put his whole being into the kiss.
He finally let their lips part, so that he could gaze at her -- admirable, beautiful Laura, his partner, the mother of the wonderful Laila...
"Get this dress off of me," she said as she turned in his arms so that her back was to him. "I love it, but it's been too long since I've felt your hands on my bare skin and now I want you, and the dress is in the way."
