Chudley Cannons Players using Potions!
Robert Bates
Two players on the Chudley Cannons Quidditch team were discovered as having traces of illegal game-enhancing potions in their systems yesterday. Robert Bates, one of the Cannons' chaser and Alan Douglas, Canon beater, were each given a random potion test. Both tests were positive, which are grounds for dismissal from the team.
Robert Bates has been a part of the Chudley Cannons' roster for ten years now, recruited directly out of Hogwarts School. Bates spent his time playing on the Hufflepuff team during school, honing his chaser skills. Public record shows that the quidditch player wasn't nearly as 'gifted' during his tenure at Hogwarts as he has been these past few seasons with the Cannons'. Alan Douglas was also raised playing Quidditch, playing for the Gryffindor team while in school. He has been a part of the Cannons' team for the past six years.
Alan Douglas
One of the most intense games in past few months include the match between the Chudley Cannons and the Tutshill Tornadoes, in which the Cannons took a surprising turn for the better, winning the match in points, though it should be noted that the Tornadoes' Seeker, Cho Chang, had caught the Snitch to end the game. Was this stunning and peculiar turn of events due to the illegal potions use of two of the team's key players? Records show that Bates and Douglas were both influential to that particular win. Bates alone was responsible for what amounted to over half of the total points scored. Cannon coach Gordon Dorkins has yet to comment.
