Restless

*Victor, are you in position?* Betsy asked via telepathy as she peered around the corner enough to see the target.

*Not yet but I gonna be once we get back to the bunk.* He purred his reply before she could snap the connection closed so the rest of the team couldn't hear it through the open communication. His response illicited a few groans and even a "get a room" making Betsy smirk a little and make it a private conversation.

*Shouldn't you be focusing on the task at hand?* Her words were professional but her tone was playful.

*Can't a guy multitask?* He chuckled sending a rumble through her brain and down to her stomach. Combat had a strange effect on them, especially Victor. The times directly after a mission were the most passionate. It was fortuitous if they even made it to the bunks though neither of them were particularly worried about modesty. However, Sage gently reminded them of how it was a matter of respect for them to keep their activities in private. That included saucy comm links.

*Focus, love. The sooner we get this done, the sooner we can make those fantasies reality.*

He groaned in her mind as he got the mental image he was meant to. "Mmm ya do know how to motivate a man."

It was her turn to chuckle. She could hear the others growing impatient so she opened the connection to everyone again. "The target is headed your way. You've got 30 seconds. Get ready."

The mission went off without a hitch, just the way she remembered it as she drifted from her dream into consciousness. It had all been so vivid that for a moment she forgot where she was. She felt an arm around her waist but it wasn't Victor's but Jack's. It wasn't disappointment in the partner as it was in the circumstances. She'd been very close to her teammates as an Exile. It made it that much more painful when they died but it was a dangerous job and it didn't have nearly as much down time as this team. She felt like all she did anymore was workout and wait. If she didn't have Jack, she wasn't so sure she would have stayed this long. If things didn't change soon even her relationship with Jack wouldn't be enough to keep her in Camp Nowhere, Washington.
