Info: Alex and Sergio from GELKA are definitely no strangers to the game whatsoever. After a string of tasty contributions to prestigeous compilations like Cafe Del Mar throughout the last years, the boys now come on strong to prove that their 'urban blues' drenched downtempo electronica is something way beyond any lounge or chill out clichee. In fact, GELKA draws from a rich background and various influences, yet the duo always manages to simply make GELKA music. Timeless trademark sound? For real! And what a sound, indeed... First division producer skills meet smart muscianship in the land of the good groove.

'Actually, we do listen to and are influenced by a lot of western european and american music of course. But we do think we really have that typical hungarian vibe embedded in our sound: a little bit of sadness and that melancholic feeling, yet there's optimism and happiness at the same time' Sergio says, and Alex adds: 'Budapest has two faces, you know... we had a very heavy past, but now our city is very beautiful and vibrant. You really have to come here to understand...'

On 'Less is more', GELKA's unique musical vision scetch book materializes in 15 soopa beautiful chapters. 'Less is more'? More or less...

Top notch vocalists like Sena, Budapest based outstanding ghanaese songstress with credits including work for the likes of DJ Vadim e.g., as well as regular NIGHTMARES ON WAX singers Ricky Ranking and Ella May, sail on beats and chords that a lot of folks out there would definitely kill for. Stand out vocal tunes like 'So many ways' (...the 'secret hit' from the 'NIGHTMARES ON WAX presents WAX ON records* compilation...), 'Blame' and 'Angry eyes' (all sung by Sena) as well as 'Eau Rouge pt 2' and 'Burlesk' with Ricky or 'Soon' voiced by the soulful Ella May, truly do sound like instant future classics right away. While the high class instrumental GELKA gems to come with those all definitley hold a message that really needs no words. But sure there is an overall explanation...

'It was always our biggest dream to release our music in Europe and abroad, but that's a very difficult thing to do for a hungariarian band or musician. During the past seven years or so, a lot of people told us it would be an impossible mission really. And in fact, there were times where we really didn't know how to carry on. But we kept our faith and shaped our sound, and now our vision becomes reality, in fact we can live our dream. We are free to do honest music and to go in all these directions, and Wax On gives us that freedom. We really appreciate that a lot!'

This way, the hungarian word GELKA might as well translate as 'dream like quality'... in fact, its original meaning goes even way deeper than that. During Hungary's more difficult times, GELKA was the name of the general repair service for all household electronics (from your washing machine to TV and radio). 'We figured the name thing out during a game of monopoly... electro service: GELKA, we liked the sound of that. In a good way, it stands for our past, our present and our future now,' the boys explain - and smile.

A future looking bright, indeed. GELKA music is here to stay... Budapest's best kept musical secret is finally being revealed... and WAX ON records is blessed with yet another incredible artist debut album. Sounds like good times for honest music - let the repair men in y'all!
