2006 in review--a few days late.

Jan 02, 2007 00:17

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Graduated college. Had an 8:00-5:00 office job. Quit an 8:00-5:00 office job (what? It sucked ass royally). Started my own business. Grammar Bites. Use it. Love it.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Sure didn't. I have a new tactic this year, so hopefully I will keep all of them this time around. I'm feeling pretty ambitious so far.

Some that I haven't been keeping up with but would really like to for next year:
I'm not telling you my important ones because I always jinx myself when I blab them and then I never keep them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, not this year.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, but like Kaiti said, Steve Irwin did. That made me very sad. :(

5. What countries did you visit?
None. -_-

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you didn't have in 2006?
A boyfriend.

7. What date(s) from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 6--college graduation.
May 31--first day at BCNB call center.
Sept. 5--last day at BCNB call center. No, seriously, it really sucked.
Nov. 9--Day Kaiti left. :(

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Two things: Graduating college and starting my own business. Didn't expect that second one at all.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I don't really view it as a failure, per se, but I guess I would say the BCNB job. I don't like quitting things, but in this case, I had to. So it's a bit of a failure.

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
I died. But I was resurrected in time for my birthday, so it's all good.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Oh, jeez. What did I buy this year.. Oh. :) My Kate Moss lingerie from Agent Provocateur.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Lindsay and Kait, for being my best friends and being supremely awesome. :) My Mom, for sticking it out at a job she hates just because she knows she's close to retirement. My Dad for starting his own business--which is turning out to be ridiculously successful. I love my parents. :)

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Oh, I don't even want to bother with this question. It was last year, who cares? Everything that was bad has since been resolved, so it doesn't matter whose behavior was less than par. :)

14. Where did most of your money go?
To clothing and eating out. Meh.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Graduation. My parents coming to visit for graduation. Starting Grammar Bites. Quitting my job (though that was more stress-release than excitement). Going home for Christmas. Um.. Kingdom Hearts. Hee. :) Pirates of the Caribbean.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
"+ HAHAHA. Hikari, "Simple and Clean" - the theme from Kingdom Hearts"
You know it! :) Also: Sexy Back or whatever, which I don't like. Wind it Up, which is crap but catchy, so I bought it. Also, anything by the Libertines, Dirty Pretty Things, or Babyshambles. That dominated my iPod this year--er, last year.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
+ happier or sadder? - About the same, but with more nagging worries.
+ thinner or fatter? - Fatter. Goddamn it.
+ richer or poorer? - Uh. Richer. Unless you count my massive student loan debt. Then way, WAY poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Traveling. Spending time with my parents. Writing. Studying language.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Working at BCNB. Procrastinating. Playing the SIMS (IT ATE MY LIFE). Being a bitch. :)

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent it at home in Helena. :) It was very nice and low-key.

21. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Romantically? Nope.

22. What was your favorite TV program?
Heroes, Lost, Scrubs, South Park, Sex and the City (always), America's Got Talent.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't hate anyone, no. There are people who have pissed me off royally, but I don't hate them.

24. What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Libertines/Dirty Pretty Things/Babyshambles, thanks to Lindsay. Also, random songs given to me by Kait. :) I also really liked the song "Los Angeles" by Sugarcult.

25. What did you want and get?
A digital camera, a guitar, and a CAR! Best surprise EVER for graduation. His name is Magnus.

26. What did you want and not get?
A boyfriend. Also, my own island. What?

27. What were your favorite films of this year?
Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Lassie (no, seriously. Watch the new one with Peter O'Toole. I cried the whole time), um.. what else came out this year. There are a bunch I want to see, but haven't. I loved Under the Tuscan Sun, but I don't think that came out in 2006.

28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
On my birthday? I cleaned the apartment, packed my suitcase, and spent 90% of the day alone. However, the day before my birthday, I had dinner at Olive Garden with Linds. The day after my birthday, I flew home. :) Oh, I turned 23.

29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Traveling. NOT having my ridiculously bad experience at BCNB. Linds, Kait, you remember how depressed I was all the time. I seriously felt like that woman in the Cymbalta commercial for depression who just stands by the file cabinet in her office and leans back against it, unable to do anything else because she hates her life so much. The call center was a great idea in theory. There really was no way of knowing what it was actually like until we got in there.

30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Uh. I like to think I have more fashion than I do. Mostly it was t-shirts/sweaters and jeans. Interchanging a few pairs of cute shoes. Later in the year, it became t-shirts/sweaters, jeans, and light overcoats to hide the weight I gained.

31. What kept you sane?
My friends. Pippin. My parents always being there with sound advice. My Mom telling me to quit my job. Lindsay being so gung-ho about helping me with Grammar Bites advertising.

32. What was the best book you read?
The Shopaholic series was great. :) Um.. jeez. What else did I read?

33.Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Johnny Depp.

34. Who did you miss?
Mom and Dad all the time. Kait after she left. :( Lindsay and Pippin now that I'm on vacation.

35. Who was the best new person you met?
Chad at the call center. He was awesome.

36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Real life comes at you fast and takes a lot more work than college tells you. Also, making decisions while feeling any strong emotion (anger, sadness, elation.. though the big one is anger) can lead to regrets later. It's better to think rationally and calm down first.
