Mini rant.

Okay. So, I'll admit, I really liked Ashlee Simpson when her first album came out. Wasn't as fond of the second one, but it had some catchy songs.

But I'm really quite appalled by her recent plastic surgery.

She changed her nose, her lips, her chin.. now she has super-long blonde hair and has gotten skinnier. For one thing, I thought she was very pretty to begin with. She looked different than everyone else, and her looks suited her personality.

Now she looks like everyone else... but what really gets me is that people think she looks BETTER now. She made her nose smaller, and people think it looks great. It seems to me that there's something wrong with that. Having a bump in your nose or having a nose that simply isn't tiny and turned up on the end doesn't mean your nose is too big or that it looks bad. It just means you don't look like a Barbie doll.

It really amazes me that so many young people in this country are so wrapped up in the idea of generic, Barbie-doll beauty that they can't see individual uniqueness anymore. Women look manufactured: blonde hair, tanned skin, tiny nose, enormous lips.

Something is really wrong that this is happening.
