Title: Quarantine

Prompt: Quarantine
Summary: Apparently at some point, Dem decided that the best thing to do would be to, you know...try and rip someone’s throat out with his teeth.
Saiah stumbled as he was pushed into the small room. His feet catch against each other and, seeing as his hands were bound behind his back, he's forced to fall onto his face. He recovered quickly, rolling onto his back and pushing himself into a sitting position. The guard was watching him, smirking because he's a useless sack of shit and probably isn't trusted to do anything else.
"Where the fuck is Dem?" Saiah wiggled against the ropes, mostly for show. They were lose, too lose. The guard shrugged. "Of course you fucking know. He's that bastard that hit your mate with the wrench." The guard shrugged again. "Fuck you." The door to the cell slammed and Saiah rolled his eyes, slipping his arms free. "Dem, you there?" There was a burst of static in his head before Dem's accented voice is in his head.
"Sure am, man. Good act you put up there. I rue the day they realize we've got mental coms, to be quite honest."
"Where are you?" There was silence for a few moments, presumably as Dem tried to figure out where he was.
"Quarantine. Again." Saiah sighed, pushing himself to his feet and crossing to the door. He ran his fingers over the cracks, searching for a weak spot.
"You just had to, didn't you?" He muttered, unzipping his uniform slightly so he could get his hand inside.
"I was threatened!" Saiah rolled his eyes, again. "Are you getting naked? Did I hear your zip? Are you getting naked without me?"
"Shut up, Dem. Just try and get in contact with Tal and Mari, would you? We're not going to get out of here without them." There was silence. Saiah smiled, digging the plastic card out of an inside pocket and sliding it along the gap between the door and the frame. As he jimmied it against the lock, there was another burst of static, and then Mari's exasperated voice.
"What happened this time?" The man said. He sounded like he was going to kill them both, as usual.
"Dem decided the best method for getting away from guards would be to hit one on the head with his wrench." Mari swore. "So we both got taken, and while I got taken one way, he got taken the other, and apparently at some point decided that the best thing to do would be to, you know..."
"Try and rip someone’s throat out with his teeth?"
"Pretty much. So now I have to get myself out of here, find him and get him out."
"You're not much of a navigator if you fuck that up." Saiah glared. The door clicked open beneath his hands and he pressed his body against it. There'd be no use having it swing open to reveal him standing there half naked. "Let us know when you're both out. We'll be around. Do you copy, Navigator Kiel?"
"Affirmative, Driver Chelle." Blessed silence again. Saiah slipped his card back inside his pocket and zipped up his uniform before he pulled the door open, just a tad. The hall outside stretched out infinitely, empty of anybody. "Dem."
"You're supposed to call me Mechanic Fitz, you know?" Saiah could practically hear the amusement in Dem's voice. "How come Mari and Tal get respect and I don't?"
"Because," Saiah muttered as he walked down the hall. "They don't get me into shit all the time, that's why. Look, can you give me visuals, please? Everything here is so fucking white." Seconds later, an image of the room appeared, overlaying what Saiah could see in front of him. He grunted - it was something he could never get used to - before squinting to inspect the shaky image. Every time Dem blinked, the image would blank out for a few seconds.
The room was the same as many others Saiah had seen over their visual link. A bed, a cart of medical supplies...A lot cushier than the cells, that was for sure.
"Is there a window or anything?" They usually had windows. The image spun, hitting Saiah with a wave of dizziness for a moment before he could see out of a window, into the hall. It was just as white as the one he was in, but there were benches and plants lining the wall. A lot cushier than the cells. "Right, I'm in the east section. Can you try and remember at least one of your navigator classes and tell me which section you're in?"
"I hate navigation," Dem grumbled, the image flickering away. He apparently doesn't need to be told to just do it, because moments later he spoke. "North. Definitely North."
Finding the North section was no problem. Saiah could find his way anywhere, with at least some vague coordinates. That was his job, after all. However, finding the right hall had been a pain in the arse. They were all white. Every single one of them, and there were hundreds. There were even a few with plants and seating, but every time Saiah had Dem look out of the window, it turned out to be the right one.
"Are there any more hints except for plants and seating?" Saiah sighed, pushing open yet another door and peering down the hall way. Plants.
"No, but I can see you." Finally! Saiah jogged down the hall, peeking in each window until he saw Dem grinning back at him. "Now get me out of here." Saiah stopped for a moment, staring into the room. It was so tempting to leave Dem there, where he couldn't cause any more hassle. "Seriously." So tempting.
