Disclaimer: All Quinrose and Lewis Carrol, I just play with them.

“On your left. No, your other left!” Julius barked sharply, crossing his arms irritably over his chest as he watched Ace wobble precariously at the top of the step ladder. Shaking his head at the sight, he scoffed softly. “Honestly, how can he get lost while he's standing in place?”

Setting the coffee tray she'd been holding aside on the desk, Alice cautiously joined the watchmaker on the sidelines watching Ace shuffle through the boxes piled on the higher shelves in the workshop.

“Hey, Julius?” Lowering her voice to a whisper, Alice winced as the ladder did a rather scary looking wobble under Ace's cheerful bouncing and gave Julius a sidelong glance. “Wouldn't it have been easier to just get the box down yourself?”

“Most definitely.” Julius rubbed the bridge of his nose. “But he insisted- Ace! You're too high. It's the lower one. -Insisted on helping out.”

He gave a harassed sounding sigh and Alice pat his arm consolingly.

“I think I found it.” The ladder made a dangerous sounding clatter, drawing their attention back towards the knight. “You wanted the one with the spare tools, right?”

“Yes. Now hurry up and bring it down.” Julius told him. “I want to get back to work”

“Will do!”

“Ace?” Alice watched the shaking ladder nervously. “Are you sure you don't want someone to come hold the ladder for you?”

“No, it's okay.” He chuckled lightly as he tugged on the box, glancing down over his shoulder at her, “I've got it completely-”

Too late.

With an ominous sounding rip, the side of the box Ace had been trying to pull loose gave way. Suddenly overbalanced, he was sent tumbling to the ground, wobbly ladder and all. His fall accompanied by a shower of tools, clock parts, and the odd repair manual.

On the ground, it was a quick-thinking Julius that grabbed hold of Alice just in time to shelter her from the bulk of the falling objects as they hit the floor around them. Waiting a moment to make sure the worst was over, he slowly let her go. Frowning, he gave her a quick once over.

“Are you alright?”

“Yeah, I'm fine. But...” Alice glancing towards the bulk of the mess and Julius scowled at the state of his workshop before going over to prod the fallen knight with the toe of his shoe

“Ace?”

“Ow...” He gave a weak laugh. “I think I hit my head.”

“You'll live, then.” Julius sighed. “Now get up and help me clean up your mess.”

“Aww, Julius. No sympathy for an injured warrior?”

The clockmaker snorted softly.

“Do you need some ice?” Alice looked on in concern as Ace slowly levered himself up from the rubble.

“It not that bad.” He quickly began to wave aside her concern before pausing and treating her to his most dazzling smile “Though, I wouldn't say no if you wanted to play nurse with-”

Julius prodded Ace again. Harder this time.

“A broom would be useful.” The watchmaker interrupted firmly, cutting off Ace's teasing pout with a stern glance before looking over towards where Alice was standing. “And perhaps a new box if we have an empty one laying around somewhere.”

Ace grinned proudly.

“Well, at least you can't say I didn't get it down.”
