September Prompt 2.6.

It was in that split second Johnny had to make a choice.

His sister or his friend.

Normally when people are faced between picking a friend or a family member the person will nine times out of ten go for the family but in a job like this Reed had told him to work as a team but if the threat becomes to great do what he must. Seeing Susan thrown back against the wall he felt himself shiver at the sound of the thud as she hit the floor. This guy was huge. There was no way anyone human could have strength like that. Something was up but none of them had any idea yet. It wasn’t till Johnny and Ben suggested the old fashioned hit first and ask questions later that Reed finally agreed to get him. Although even through the fighting you could tell Reed’s actions were more studying then fighting.

“I don’t know how much he’s been to the gym but I’m telling you those muscles aren’t natural.” Johnny was more talking to Reed who was currently being held up by his neck. They all knew if this monster of a man could he would snap his neck like a twig but for some reason it seemed like he was more playing with the four of them than anything else.

Hurling jets of fire at him, he finally dropped Reed do who went rushing over to protective his wife. This left Johnny and Ben. “You think you’re strong pal?” Ben chuckled and before any of them could come up with a plan he’d already pushed himself back off the wall and charged right into the man’s stomach. At first Johnny thought it hadn’t done any damage. It was like watching two cars collide with one another but then, as Ben pulled back a little dizzy. The rest of them watched as the guy started to stumble and eventually fell to his knees. “Didn’t think so.”

“What was that?” Johnny didn’t want to refer to him as a person. How could someone like that be natural anyway? The way he moved was in human enough. Moving to get a better look Reed stayed with Susan and Ben watched him. Just above the neck, right under the line of his hair was some time of chip. It had to have been a sensor chip but from past experience of watching movies Johnny had learnt two things. Don’t touch and when in doubt clip the red wire. Of course he knew what to do but in cases like this it was better to leave it to someone like Reed. Johnny would probably forget as they all like to remind him. “Reed you need to look at this, either this is some remote control computer chip thing or he’s really attached to his new mobile phone.”

“This isn’t the time to joke Johnny.” Reed had gotten up and carried Susan in his arms over to Ben who was more than capable of holding her till they got back to the jet. “Where is it?” When Johnny pointed out what they were looking at Reed’s eyes went wide eyed. “This is...” He refrained from talking in techno babble and reached down. At first Johnny thought he was being crazy but as he watched, Reed placed his finger and thumb either side of the chip and pulled. There was a sound like someone peeling tape of flesh before a long flesh like cord was attached to one end and reeling out from his body.

“That is gross.” Johnny pulled a face and moved back a bit. Now strange slime was oozing from the creatures body.

“Whatever it is Johnny we’re taking it back to examine. No questions.”
