Title: Cursed by Love
Characters: Isolde/Atton
'Verse: Knights of the Old Republic | counted_stars
Rating: PG-13

#1 Air

Around Atton, she finds it difficult to breathe, and she's thankful that, with the Force, she can pretend there is nothing wrong.

#2 Apples

He takes the fruit she's eating from her hand and bites in; she only pretends that she's annoyed.

#3 Beginning

She's just woken up from being poisoned, and so the man whose eyes keep roaming to her chest is not anything she would call 'trustworthy'.

#4 Bugs

“Just because you have a problem with trusting droids doesn't mean I'm letting my guard down,” Atton tells her as he puts himself between her and the clearly defective droid.

#5 Coffee

It's sometimes difficult for her to sleep, and she knows he doesn't as well; it becomes a nightly ritual to bring him a cup of caf and curl up in the co-pilot seat.

#6 Dark

He thinks his soul is too dark for her, but when she says that she forgives him, that she wants to train him, he wonders if there really is something redeemable about himself.

#7 Despair

He thinks she's dead when they bring her back to the Ebon Hawk, and it's in that moment that he admits to himself that he doesn't know how to live without her.

#8 Doors

The doors shut behind her, and he had to remind himself that she's not disappearing, just going to change out of her ripped, blood-stained robes.

#9 Drink

She surprises him she takes a shot of Tarisian ale as if its nothing, and though it's not what he would associate with her, he finds it completely thrilling.

#10 Duty

She tries to leave him behind by saying she has a duty to Revan, and he argues that he has a duty to her.

#11 Earth

He sits next to her on the ground after they've crashed on to Dxun, unsure of what to make of the expression on her face until she says, “The life here is much more quiet than I remember.”

#12 End

She lays her hand on his arm when she's about to board her ship and tells him she's glad he hasn't abandoned his duty.

#13 Fall

She's always been able to love, but falling is a matter that terrifies her to the point where she doesn't know what to do when she can't see him.

#14 Fire

Her fingers feel like flames when she touched his bare skin, but instead of jumping from it, he leans in closer to her gentle, healing hands.

#15 Flexible

He should be concentrating on the battle, but his eyes frequently move to watch her and the way she fights, the lightsaber an extension of herself as she wields it.

#16 Flying

Letting Atton pilot is almost as terrifying as the idea of facing the Sith, but at least Isolde knows what she would choose without a second thought.

#17 Food

“So, hey, Bao-Dur, I got another question-and don't laugh-but what does your precious general like to eat?”

#18 Foot

The Exile's foot lands squarely in the attacker's chest, and there is barely a sound as he falls to the ground with eyes rolling into the back of his head; Atton thinks she's as dangerous as she is beautiful.

#19 Grave

After he tells her that the people with her have no future, Isolde does all that she can to make sure non of them go to their deaths.

#20 Green

From a distance, his eyes look green, but on a closer inspection, they're revealed to be a more hazel color; she reminds herself that it would be too weird to keep looking in them.

#21 Head

The bounty on her head almost makes him twitch, but the thought of turning her in makes his stomach turn; he tries to pretend that it's only because of Kreia that he doesn't do it.

#22 Hollow

Without her, he is nothing but a shell, and he thinks he likes being something this time.

#23 Honor

The right thing to do would be to comfort her when she is obviously in pain; he's too pissed at what those masters tried to do to her, and Mical takes the opportunity in his honor instead-if only Atton could shoot him.

#24 Hope

She smiles at him, a small blush on her face as he rubs her hands, and a glowing ember of hope burns in him.

#25 Light

She emerges from the darkness of the cave, from the silent battle between her and Revan, and Atton is there waiting for her, pacing the ground anxiously as the fading light of Korriban illuminates him, her heart beating faster for reasons that had nothing to do with battle or fear.

#26 Lost

“Or maybe we should have taken the left,” Atton says absently before grabbing her hand and tugging her in the other direction.

#27 Metal

The dancer's outfit fits tightly to her body, and he can see every muscle in her toned body, see miles of soft, pale skin; he would have excused himself if he could find his voice.

#28 New

Kissing is nothing new to him, and he thanks the Force-of all the things-that he doesn't mess that up with her.

#29 Old

Isolde carried within her the scars of the past, but with him, she doesn't feel as old as she used to when traveling alone.

#30 Peace

“Meditate with me,” she commands in a soft voice before the smirk slides onto his face and he sits on the floor next to her, his leg brushing against hers.

#31 Poison

The venom pumps through him until he's on the rocky floor of the cave, limbs twitching; she hovers over him, hands over his skin as she begins to heal him, worry clearly etched onto her face.

#32 Pretty

The more in touch with the Force she becomes, the more beautiful she appears to him.

#33 Rain

Without thought, he takes his jacket off and holds it over her head; he may be getting soaked now, but seeing her grateful smile is worth it all.

#34 Regret

He loves with many regrets, but not holding her close to him when she first arrived on Coruscant is his most recent.

#35 Roses

He's never been in the position where he's been in love, and his experience with women is usually jut without the wining and dining, but Isolde is different than all of them; finding flowers that are perfect for her prove more difficult than he thought.

#36 Secret

It's no secret that Atton is outwardly possessive of Isolde... except to the woman herself.

#37 Snakes

The last known Jedi in the galaxy, facing unknown threats, and she stiffens up at the sight of a snake; he tries to not laugh when she sidesteps with a look of shock on her face.

#38 Snow

She leans against him, head nearly resting on his shoulder as she speaks about an early adventure on a cold planet and the beasts that blended into the snow.

#39 Solid

His back is firm, real, there, as she leans as she leans against him, face pressed into the back of his shirt, holding on to him tightly.

#40 Spring

It's spring on Dantooine, warm and inviting, almost like the old days, but when she opens her eyes, she can see the difference; Atton squeezes her shoulder and keeps her moving through the grassy-and dangerous-fields.

#41 Stable

They're able to rely on each other, he realizes with a start; he has never been a stable influence for anyone before, but for Isolde, he'll do anything.

#42 Strange

He thinks she's odd, the way she fights to kill but in the same breath will attempt to redeem; it's the kind of charm he feels drawn to.

#43 Summer

She smells of the sun-despite her pale skin-and of flowers that only bloom in hot climates, and her smiles warm not only his blood, but his heart; he wishes he could hold on to her and taste the wind on her skin, but he resists.

#44 Taboo

The Order warned against personal relationships, told them that they were against Jedi code, but then Isolde reminds herself that they cast her out; her lips press against Atton's in quiet passion.

#45 Ugly

He wonders how it is that someone like her-whose inside matches the out-can put her love and trust in someone whose insides are distorted and tainted and rotten; she patiently reminds him that what he sees isn't necessarily the truth.

#46 War

Atton sometimes forgets that they had both served in the Mandalorian Wars together, that she was one of the main reasons they had even won, and his respect do her doubles.

#47 Water

She sits close to him, nearly touching, as she passes over the water container, eyes on him as he drinks greedily before catching her gaze, a small smirk sliding onto his face.

#48 Welcome

He opens the door to the apartment on Coruscant, and she smiles brightly as she says, “Welcome home, Atton.”

#49 Winter

It was in the snow that he was forced to stick around with the one woman who everyone seemed to die around, and strangely enough, he has yet to fully regret it.

#50 Wood

“If you start talking to trees and feeling sorry for them, we're going to need to have a long talk,” Atton tells Isolde as she soothes a raging kath hound from attacking them, T3-M4 whistling loudly nearby.
