burton's alice and hatter by `

deviantART (Okay, that's
bri_chan's interpretation of Tim Burton's interpretation, but bear with me.)
It was typical Tim Burton for me. The story was kind of out there; it reminded me a bit of Hook. Visually, it was beautiful. Anne Hathaway annoyed the crap out of me with her portrayal of the White Queen, but maybe that's how Burton wanted her to act. Helena Bonham Carter was PERFECT as the Red Queen. Mia Washikowski was so angelic-looking as Alice, but somehow I feel her role as the main character was kind of obscured by both Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.
And normally I love, love, LOVE Johnny Depp....but I don't know what I was expecting here. Maybe I need to see this a second time to truly appreciate it. Maybe I'm biased towards the original Disney version (and because I'm a mad Alice/Hatter shipper; thanks
curiousinsane). I dunno. Somehow I didn't feel Depp's Mad Hatter was "mad" enough. Or that it was merely him doing what he did with Willy Wonka all over again. (Which I didn't care for. Sorry, but Gene Wilder did it better.)
Like I said, maybe I just need to see this a second time to appreciate it.
.....Dammit, I miss having Fester around to debate this sort of shit with.
*edit* Oh, and BTW, if you haven't seen it yet, they FINALLY updated
curiousinsane. NOW we know why he calls Alice "Cricket"!
