How to crosspost from LJ to FB (custom permissions) using IFTTT

Nov 03, 2017 14:27

1. Create IFTTT account

2. Turn on RSS (https://ifttt.com/feed) service

3. Turn on FB (https://ifttt.com/facebook) service

4. Enable FB access

5. Set post permissions

6. Back on IFTTT, go to 'My Applets' (https://ifttt.com/my_applets)

7. Hit 'New Applet' (https://ifttt.com/create) and create a new one

8. Hit the big, blue [+]this and select the RSS service

9. Choose 'New Feed Item' as the trigger

10. Add your LJ feed to the field URL, replacing the brackets with your username and password: http://[username].livejournal.com/data/rss&auth=digest?username=[username]?password=[password]

11. Hit the big, blue [+]that and select the FB service (first result)

12. Choose 'Create a status message' as the action

13. Hit 'Add ingredient' and select what you want to be in the status--I'm selecting {{EntryTitle}}, {{EntryContent}}, and {{EntryUrl}} so you'll be able to link back to the post with all the pictures, but if you're not worried about embedded pictures, you can just do content, with or without title

14. Hit 'Create Action', give it a better name, then hit 'Finish'

And you're done!

I'll see if I can figure out how to make this work with protected posts too, since we have your authentication in the feed URL it **should** be working... but, it's not. For now.

I will defeat it. **determinedface**
