this, my friends, was probably THE best days of my vacation so far. to start off, it was my mommy's birthday :) (and her first birthday without snow) so we went to a breakfast buffet right on the beach. oooooh my gosh it was so good! i pretty much stuck with the fresh fruit.. like mango and papya and guava and pineapple.. MMMMM! then we went back to the hotel and slept a little more; we left at 7 in the morning so we were kind of sleepy. i woke up at 11 after sleeping for about an hour and my mom and i went to the beach until about 2. then came back.. got ready.. and (this is the best part)...
a dinner cruise for my moms birthday!
k it went a little something like this.
we got to the pickup station at about 4:20 cus they left at 4:30. after searching for the right bus we get on.. and it seems as though at least 75% were Japanese (which is no different from the entire island.. there are more Asian people here than i have ever seen in my entire life). soooo we drive to the catamaran, but before we walk into the boat we HAD to get our picture taken with our host/waiter/dancer/bus guide (just one way to suck the money out of our pockets. at least the host was semi-cute.) we walk in and our host seats us and orders our drinks. i got a drink that came inside a coconut :) and i got to keep the cup :) woohoo! anyway the food was pretty good... but i ate WAYY too much of it. afterwards my mom and i went on the 3rd floor/top deck of the catamaran to take pictures and watch the sunset.. and we saw whales!! every time my mom goes into the ocean she brings binoculars just to maybe see a smidgen of a whale.. and this one was like the kind you see on movies.. the ENTIRE fin and side and eye was out of the water. i am so glad she got to see that on her birthday :) the boat crew/dancers threw us a mini polynesian party at 6:15.. wait, did i say mini? i ment AWESOME. hula dancers galore, hula guys, flame throwers.. no j/k on that one. but i mean it was ROCKIN. some parts of it were kind of... um... sketchy. like the guys waving their crotches around.. ooooo gosh i have to say it made me blush :P then after that we had a screaming contest by the busses we came in.. and of course our bus won! woot woot! as a prize we were able to be in the front row to do the macarana! lol! it was incredible... first it was the macarana, then more hula, then a mix of 60s beach boys music, then the electric slide, then the hokey pokie (they added sketchiness to that too. yeah i didnt think it was possible either. but they did. more crotch waving.) it was soooo much fun!! SO much fun. i cant emphasise enough how great of a time i had. even my mom and Tim had a blast.. we are doing it again when my brother and his girlfriend get here :) i cant wait!!
have i mentioned that i love this place? i fit in! everybody has the same kind of fluffy, kind of curly hair that i do. and the same color and shape eyes. and everyone is so nice. and for a city it is surprisingly clean. i love it all. the smells, the people, the culture. i think i am moving in with my mom when she moves down here in the summer of '07 :)
