[Oh god. Carrie turns and tries to hide the dress behind her back. Her hands already covered in blood. Dripping on her, it's on her...]

N-nothing. I didn't do it. Th-the lights broke. Nothing's wrong. They broke...

[Every single light on the Christmas tree in fact. And all the others in the room.]

[Rider just squints.]

Is that...? Did the glass shatter on you? Are you hurt?

No. No. I'm fine.

I'm not hurt. I'm fine.

[The blood drips down...down... as she stands surrounded by broken light bulbs. Does she look, sound or appear, fine? No. Not in the slightest.]

[Rider just crosses her arms and sharpens her gaze.]

You're not fine. Let me see your hands. If you're injured we must get you medical attention.

[Carrie freezes for a moment. If she doesn't do what the woman wants, maybe she'll start acting like Momma....but she had her powers. No one could do that again. Ever again. Ever again.......She looks at the women. She hadn't acted like momma at all though. So maybe...just maybe.

She puts her hands out. The bloody dress dropped to the floor behind her. True to her word, her hands are fine. Not even scratched.]

[Rider, however, doesn't appear angry at all. Just concerned. She takes a few steps behind the younger girl and attempts to simply pick up the dress.]

Did the town give this back to you?

[Carrie goes very still as the dress is picked up. It's a beautiful dress that looks like it took a long time to make. And it's covered in blood.]

Y-yes....

[Rider considers asking what happened and why in the hell it was covered in blood, but she figures the girl has her own issues. Her own problems. And if she wanted to talk about it, she would.]

I can try washing it, if you wish. ...or see about purchasing a new one.

[Shakes her head.]

It won't work. It won't come out.

....

I can't wear that again.

I-

[Looking at the bloody dress. If she destroyed it. Then what? What did that mean? All her hard work, ruined. That night....that night...

A lamp smashes to the ground.]

[There's just the tiniest flinch from Rider.]

That lamp...did you do that?

[There's a pause....her mind is over thinking everything. She takes a slight step backwards, as though expecting to be hit as she replies.]

.....yes.

I-I didn't mean to...but it happens...

[Please don't hurt her. Please don't-]

Is that why you were asking about powers, when you arrived here?
