Summary: The man known only as Prometheus is one of the most notorious villains in the DCU. Described as the 'anti-Batman,' Prometheus's past is a dark reflection of Bruce Wayne's - his parents were not respected socialites but hippie criminals, and when they were murdered in a shootout their young son swore to annihlate the forces of justice in revenge. Armed with skills collected from travels around the world, a helmet that allows him to upload the fighting styles of the greatest martial artists in the world into his brain, and the sinister Cosmic Key, Prometheus is one of the deadliest threats the Justice League has ever faced. This fanmix provides a further look into the crooked mind of Prometheus.

01. "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac
His origins are humble. The only son of two fun-loving hippies, his protectors and his heroes. As he himself says, "My parents were the coolest people I knew." The time he spent with them was the happiest time of his life - robbing convenience stores, shooting it out with lawmen in cross-country chases, it was the only life he knew, and he loved every minute of it. Until it came to a violent end in the seats of his parents' Cadillac Eldrado, his mother's bleeding body sprawled on his lap, his father's cooling corpse in the driver's seat. The shootout was the defining moment in the young boy's life, shaping his destiny from that day forward.
Listen to the wind blow, watch the sunrise.
Run in the shadows, damn your love, damn your lies.
And if you don't love me now, you will never love me again.
I can still hear you saying you would never break the chain.
[. . .]
Chain, keep us together...
Run in the shadow.
02. "Let's Get This Party Started" by KoRn
He escaped the cops easily enough. Escaping poverty was harder. Alone in a merciless world, the orphaned boy learned the first and most important skills he needed, the skills of survival. He came to the attention of a local mafia, and he learned a bit more, but he wasn't satisfied. Not by half. By the age of sixteen, he was ready. Ready to leave the prison of squalor. Ready to travel the world, to learn what he really needed to become the man he wanted to be.
Let's get this party started.
I'm sick of being you.
You make me feel insane.
We don't give to you.
Let's get this party started.
You make me feel insane.
I want to be the one.
To make myself sane.
03. "Set the World on Fire (The Lie of Lies)" by Symphony X
He traveled far and wide. Studied under the masters of martial arts. Walked among the rich and powerful. Learned to kill in a dozen different languages. But it wasn't until he discovered Shamballa, the buried temple of evil, that Prometheus discovered the artifact that would become his most treasured possession: the Cosmic Key. A mysterious treasure that unlocked space and time, Prometheus used the Cosmic Key to build his home. He used it to build his fortune. And with it, he would build the weapons he needed to destroy justice.
There's no turning back,
Falling deep into the sweet, collapsing black.
Fly with me, forever higher.
And with these wings, we'll set the world on fire.
Fly with me, through scorching skies.
You and I - The Lie of Lies.
04. "Church of the Machine" by Symphony X
The path was set by his parents. His father's legacy showed him the way. He preached to his son about the advent of technology, and Prometheus embraced the new science as his guide. Fashioning a lair for himself in his 'Ghost Zone,' Prometheus created an armory for himself. Weapons to exploit the weaknesses of his foes, the champions of justice. A weapon to wield against them, chosen for irony, the tonfa. And worst of all, a helmet that uploaded the fighting styles of the best martial artists in the world into his brain, augmenting his already-formidable combat abilities. Technology was his fire, the fire he would use against the gods.
I'm the master, looking down from the edge of space and time.
Flesh and steel intertwined.
I am the future, sacrifice your soul and succumb to me.
Nailed to your faith, you'll believe.
[. . .]
Total mesh of soul and steel,
Life-force force under my command.
Twisted baptism of fire
Between machine and man.
05. "This Ain't A Scene, It's A Goddamned Arms Race" by Fallout Boy
He had the intel. The weapons. The plan. Now, all he needed was a way to get into the Watchtower. Enter David Reid, the idealistic kid who'd won the Justice League's 'Join the JLA For A Day' contest. Getting to the boy before the camera crews could, Prometheus won his trust, studying his every move before spiriting him away to the Ghost Zone. After a bit of showing off, Prometheus sent the kid to another dimension, taking his costume and identity as 'Retro' for his own. Approaching the JLA transporter in Retro's gear, his slick smile masked his disdain for his next target: the Justice League.
I am an arms dealer.
Fitting you with weapons in the form of words..
And don't really care which side wins.
As long as the room keeps screaming,
That's just the business I'm in.
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race!
I'm not a shoulder to cry on,
But I digress...
I'm a leading man.
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate,
Oh so intricate...
06. "Prometheus"
Instrumental - Character Theme
07. "Hatredy" by Dethklok
It was no accident that he attacked the Justice League in their own home, with reporters from around the world in attendance. It was to be his crowning moment, a day which would live in infamy, captured forever by the horrified reports of every news station on the planet. And he came within a hair's width of doing it. Steel, the Martian Manhunter, Zauriel, Huntress, and even Batman, one by one, fell against Prometheus's might and guile. And the cameras recorded it all. Defeated he may have been, but it wasn't a total loss. He humiliated justice before the whole world.
Tragedy goes away.
Hate filled rage takes the stage.
But you're moving in the night, blinded by the light.
Irony in spite, sarcastic delight.
Live to die on stage, driven by your rage.
Hating your own face, comedy disgrace.
08. "When You're Evil" by Voltaire
If the forces of justice thought that his embarassing defeat at the hands of Catwoman would be enough to get rid of Prometheus, they were wrong. Approaching villainy with the same vigour Batman reserved for taking down criminals, Prometheus soon cemented his place as one of the deadliest enemies the JLA had. Whether it was through wheedling Lex Luthor into organizing a new Injustice Gang or whisking away lone heroes to the Ghost Zone for duels to the death, Prometheus has never rested. Time has only sharpened his blades.
I'm the fly in your soup.
I'm the pebble in your shoe.
I'm the pea beneath your bed.
I'm a bump on every head.
I'm the peel on which you slip.
I'm a pin in every hip.
I'm the thorn in your side,
Makes you wriggle and writhe.
And it's so easy when you're evil.
This is the life, you see,
The Devil tips his hat to me.
I do it all because I'm evil.
And I do it all for free,
Your tears are all the pay I'll ever need.
09. "Sleeping Beauty" by A Perfect Circle
For so long, the only hero who remained a mystery to him was Oracle. The mastermind behind the curtain. Imagine his surprise, then, when he learned that the great grandmaster was a girl in a wheelchair. A girl who had once been one of the Batgirls, before being crippled by the Joker. She might not be able to match him in swords, but Barbara Gordon matched Prometheus in wits. Impressed by her resolve, Prometheus made her the offer of a lifetime. An offer to restore her ability to walk, to grant her powers she'd never imagined possible. All she had to do was shut down her equipment and throw away her JLA card.
Delusional...
I believe I can cure it all for you, dear.
Coax or trick or drive or drag,
Drag the demons from you
Make it right for you, sleeping beauty.
[. . .]
But you're far too poisoned for me.
Such a fool to think that I can wake you from your slumber.
That I could actually heal you...
10. "I'm Your Villain" by Franz Ferdinand
And of course, she said no. So he
threw her out a window.
Tough luck, Babs.
Lulz.
Oh, if I could laugh I'd love you.
If I could smile at anything you said
We could be laughing lovers.
I think you'd prefer to be miserable instead.
I know what I am, and I'm your villain.
Although I don't give a damn if I'm your villain.
11. "Dear Falling Angel"
Instrumental - Fight Music
12. "Here To Stay" by KoRn
Okay, I've got a question.
"Can I throw it all away?"
Take back what's mine?
I'm here to stay.
Bring it down.
Gonna break it down.
GONNA BREAK IT!
13. "The Ghost Zone"
Instrumental
