I know, I've been off the radar or something. We are nicely ensconced in Tualatin,a suburb of Portland. The campground here (
http://www.rvparkofportland.com/) is surprisingly quiet, considering that it's set in the middle of town. Go out to the road, and boom! traffic, malls, post offices and all that. I think the park likes to cater to retirees, and most of the rigs here are filled with retired couples touring the country. I never knew how many people actually do that. We've come to a conclusion, though. A lot of these people have wadjumbous rigs that could accommodate the owners and all their grandkids. And they bring their pets. The conclusion: if you're a retiree, the bigger your rig, the smaller the dog. Conclusion #2: if you're single, regardless of age, you travel with a big dog.
Warning! Warning! Gushing over grandbabies to follow! We've spent most of our time canoodling with the cutest grandkids in the whole wide world. The six-month-old granddaughter is the prettiest baby girl I've ever seen. Now, I know that I said that about the Littlest Granddaughter. She, too, is the prettiest baby girl I've ever seen. Never mind, it's Grandma Math. Her brothers are also just perfect. The 2 1/2-year-old is a pistol, and so very sweet. Beautiful Daughter also has an eleven-year-old stepson who is so handsome and smart!
I got to go shopping with Beautiful Daughter, so I had her and the little ones all to myself. It was wonderful. She's become such a lovely young woman, and she's great mom. I'm so proud of her.
We spent yesterday afternoon with My Beloved's Aunt and Uncle. Uncle has been having a hard time with his health, but seems to be well on the mend. They are such nice people. We drove through their area to look at all the McMansions that were built during the Boom, and all now being frantically sold. Kind of sad. The majority of that mountainside used to belong to My Beloved's's family in the 1800's. They grew hops. Aunt & Uncle live on the last bit of family land.
I really wanted to see if I could get together with Lawgeekgurl, but I don't know how to get hold her.
We are here through the Fourth, and then we head towards Seattle. We plan to try to go to Mount St Helen's tomorrow. Hopefully, we'll go to the zoo today, but so far it seems kind of cool for it.
Eh. That's all I got.
