When we got to our campground mid-afternoon, and my, is it pretty. Our site is at the back of the grounds, surrounded by woods beyond the landscaping around our patio. The patio is surrounded by roses, phlox, and a big-leaved plant that has blossoms like elderberry. The entry to our driveway is planted with rhododendron and strawberries (with fruit).
We went straight over to Older Son's house -
Warning! Warning! Warning! Smarmy Grandparently raving here...
and met our new, beautiful, sweet-faced, perfect granddaughter, who is all that a baby should be, and then more. And her gorgeous, adorable, precocious, charming perfect older brother is getting so big! He talks a blue streak, and he's so articulate. He's got red curls that tumble around Christopher-Robin style, and the sweetest smile. We cuddled the baby - well, I did. She wasn't real sure about the Grandpa with the beard. I don't think she's ever seen a beard before. And we played in the back yard with her brother.
Older Son and Lovely Daughter-in-Law have put a lot of work into their little house and back yard, and while he was pointing out things he still plans to do, I was thinking that the place is quite nice. It was a joy to be there. Lovely DiL cooked up lentil soup and beets sauteed with their greens and cumin, and we sat in front of the sunset and visited.
I got to read bedtime stories to the Little Boy and got oodles of snuggles and kisses.
Yesterday, we slept almost til noon. We met The Kids in a park for a walk to the river. Cool park. It's mostly a hazelnut tree grove. The dog jumped straight into the river, which freaked me out a little, since the current looked rather strong. Didn't bother the dog, though. He swam happily against the current and hopped out when we called him with no understanding of why we were concerned.
We ran some errands, and then met The Kids at a great pizza place for Father's Day dinner. By this time Baby Girl had decided that the furry Grandpa was OK, and cuddled quite happily. The pizzeria was great. It's a certified Neapolitan Pizzeria - did you know there are fewer than 50 of those in the US?
Today I have to do laundry, or things are going to get embarrassing.
