And yeah, those comments always come XD But it was the point of the fic. Someone had to. And the point was to... twist it. Because there's no way Kame could do that. He can't just watch. ...He knows he's going to be so painfully selfish but he can't help it. He can't let someone so full of die, he can't make it alone. He loves him. So he gives his life for Jin, even though he knows he will kill something so big about Jin as he does so. But he won't be around to see the consequences of his actions.
So yes, he knew. Somewhere along the line he made the decision. He just knew. What he could do and what he couldn't. I think he wished he could've had them both alive. But he couldn't. So he made his final decision and saved Jin. No matter what. Even if it felt like a betrayal.
