Item 1. London!

I'm so excited, you guys. I've been planning ~outfits~ all week, because I have my priorities straight. Expect me to look like a hot mess regardless. I also bought a sort of map, because all of the ones we have are the better part of ten years old and I have a tendency to get lost. (It's a really neat concept. It looks like a slim book, but the pages fold out to form maps. It covers all the relevant tourist areas, and has landmarks and museums and things marked on it, with a bit of information. We have one for Dublin as well.)

For all my vacuous outfit planning, I don't actually have any plans for what I'm going to do there. :P I'll fly in on Thursday, take the tube to Victoria or someplace, and fool around for a few hours while waiting for pernickety to get off from work. We're going to go see Robin Ince and Michael Legge in the evening, which is exciting because I love Robin Ince and have never seen any live comedy. :D I'm leaving from Heathrow around three in the afternoon on Monday, and that's basically my non-picnic plans. I want to visit a few museums and Foyles and Forbidden Planet and maybe some record stores, but that's it. Maybe the tour of Buckingham Palace. I've never been on any of my, um, four previous trips, because those have all been in February or March.

So, Londoners. Any must-sees? And if you have any time to kill, I'd be happy to tag along. :D

(I won't need a jacket, right? I'm packing for the sort of weather we're having, which is something above twenty but below thirty.)

Item 2.

So apparently the boything is also a fan of Stephen Fry. I knew there was a reason I lunged drunkenly at him. (Yeah, I KNOW. But he kissed back with enough vigour to make me gag, so I guess it wasn't entirely repugnant for him.) He's also a fan of David Mitchell the novelist, but hasn't heard of David Mitchell the comedian. THIS IS A TRAVESTY. (It does mean that I'm finally reading the copy of Cloud Atlas I've had kicking around for years, and it's SO GOOD. More thoughts when I finish it, I think.)

i am a ridiculous human being, my dutch almost-boyfriend omg, travel, books, pretending to be cool
