Can you be more specific about the time frame? It might help find folks.

And as weird as it sounds, can you be more general about what you're trying to do. If you're tied to wordpress.org you'll have less of a chance than if you're just looking for something that lets you do basic blogging and content management etc...

Um... have you considered just getting a wordpress blog for free at http://wordpress.com/ ?

Yeah, I did.

Firstly, with all the things we need it wouldn't be free - e.g. we'd need to pay for it to be ad-free. Secondly, there are loads of things we'd be unable to do - e.g. ads of our own, JavaScript...

I could do some of this for free, if it was for something I approved of: either your personal blog, or a good cause like veganism.

I've got my own dedicated server in a data centre. It currently runs http://xeny.net and http://www.patriciab.com, for example. I haven't set up wordpress before, but I have set up millions of more or less similar things.

This would take a week or less. Can't promise it more quickly than that because I've just moved house and haven't got reliable internet access yet.

If I did a lot of design work that would cost money: not sure how much.

I don't think it'll work for the place I'm working at, but it would be perfect for Vegan Cake and Tea - if the promotion of vegan cake is a good enough cause... :D

I've been wanting to get hosting sorted for that for some time now.

What I'm after is hosting for vegancakeandtea.com - I'm using Google Apps for Domains, so hosting's really all I need.

I want to make money from Vegan Cake and Tea at some point; would be good to know how you feel about that.

Great! Making money from vegan stuff is exactly the sort of thing I like my server being used for. I'm planning to do the same myself. See http://community.livejournal.com/veganpeople/3692335.html.

As you've probably noticed, I'm in Australia, so I'll generally reply to messages overnight from your point of view. The server's in Canada ... I think! Bandwidth is free. I pay rent on the server, but it's all paid up for the next year or so, so money isn't an issue, at least at the moment.
