For those of you who have been paying attention to this story, you know that Planned Parenthood used deceitful tactics in order to build an abortion facility in the Chicago suburb of Aurora. When this story first broke, I didn't really pay any attention to it, but because I am a faithful reader to fellow-blogger
Jill Stanek, I have no choice but to watch carefully.
For the past few weeks, Jill has been compiling reports, photos, videos and anecdotes containing information about what has been going on in Aurora, particularly in the town council meetings. Many protestors have taken to the sidewalk and there are 24-hour vigils going on.
Planned Parenthood
has admitted to being deceitful in order to get into Aurora. When this came to light, instead of feeling shame and apologizing like any other multi-million baby-killing non-profit would do, they decided to publish an ad in the local paper insinuating that the people protesting this clinic are a bunch of arsonists. This came as a surprise to most of the protestors standing outside the would-be Planned Parenthood facility.
But why is this important? Haven't we protested the building of Planned Parenthood before? Yes, we have. But here is a list of reasons why this particular case is important:
1) Construction companies should have a right to know what kind of a building they are building, if the building in question could be "morally objectionable". It's one thing if you build a building that doesn't have tenants yet, but it's another when the tenants are being hidden. Why did they need to hide the Planned Parenthood's identity? Because
we've managed to get construction companies to stop building the child-killing centers. Wow, a company who put ethics over revenue!
2) People in communities should be able to know if an abortion clinic is entering their town. Even though pro-choicers put abortion on par with free-speech, they are delusional in thinking that the general public agrees with them. Abortion-rights advocates almost always prefer going above the heads of the people, using the courts and shady maneuvers such as this to advance their agenda, because they know the people, even if they claim to be "pro-choice", don't necessarily want an abortion clinic right down the road.
3) What happened in Aurora shows that Planned Parenthood is dishonest. While you would think that the fact that they kill babies would be repugnant enough to people, it apparently isn't. Planned Parenthood is hailed by people as a "safe place" for people ("people" meaning mostly minors) to come and "receive healthcare". It's been pointed out that Planned Parenthood, literally hundreds of times, has said
they would be willing to help minors lie about statutory rape in order to get an abortion for the minor and not send the over-age partner to jail. This incident shows that they've got some bodies in the closet.
4) This shows the country that pro-lifers are not standing idly by. It is good for the country to see pro-lifers come together and eloquently share their beliefs. Most pro-life spokespeople are taking the legal approach, which is good.
5) If this Planned Parenthood is allowed to enter a community in such a fashion, we may see repeat incidents in other places around the nation.
6) This shows how pro-choice spokespeople defend dishonesty, so long as it's by the pro-choice industry. While some pro-choice columnists have spoken out, every single pro-choice advocate I've read so far has done nothing but excuse what Planned Parenthood has done, and encourage other pro-choicers to "take action".
While Henrietta Tavish has already
declared doom for us (and I fear she is right), I do hope that the pro-lifers in the Aurora and Chicago area will be energized by this incident and keep the protests and pro-life efforts going.
Any other things I should add to this list?
