Dismissing Feminists for Life's activism against coerced abortion, Amy insists, "Our goal isn't to force women to have abortions, but to leave it as an option should women want it."

However, then I read a question where a teenager asks Amy, "how do I and my family and her mother

Selfish to give up her goals and dreams and ambitions (for a time) to give a human its first chance for life? Going through the agony of childbirth, and the further agony of either finding suitable parents for the child, or raising it herself, child such as she is...SELFISH? Ugh! So rediculous! Please people, give me a break! So now, it's in a child's best interest to die? NO. RAR.

If said letter isn't a rape case, then why didn't she make the best choice of all and not risk getting pregnant in the first place?

Kids aren't fish, darlin'. We can't throw 'em back once they're made. It's useless to talk about the past, you know? My great-great-grandmother said that a human life comes in three parts--past, present, and future--and that you need to concentrate on the two parts that can be changed. In her case, she doesn't have the option to avoid pregnancy anymore, and it's stupid and extremely unhelpful to berate a woman in this situation *post facto*.

but maybe the situation can be used to help other women avoid the problem in the first place. use her as an example of why you shouldn't risk getting pregnant if you're not ready for it.
don't do the crime if you can't do the time, and all that...

I remember that when I was 9, my 16-year-old babysitter got pregnant, and entered into a bad marriage with the father. I definitely took a lesson from that. Probably other girls have done the same.

However, what we need to recognize is that a pregnant woman is a human being with feelings, not an abstract "example". There's a difference between shaming people and helping them.
